Description

Nice flat site up above the road. We stayed there 5 days in late September in our truck camper pulling a 16' jeep trailer. Only about 10 minutes from Ouray. We will go back next year.

Bit of a drive up here but nothing too bad. There is plenty of space just before the water crossing to turn around and park. Come early if you want to grab a spot because it fills up. There was place for 4 cars on this side of the river and another 2 on the other side.

Nice neerly level site above road. No traffic while I was there. White sound of stream cascading nearby lulled me to sleep. Low temp was 42 (perfect sleeping weather). No one else in other sites along road.

Main road up to trailhead is manageable by everything but the biggest rigs.
Before you reach the bridge theres a left offshoot with about 4 sites down it. 4x4 high clearance a must for those.
At the bridge theres 3, not so private flat spots with pits.
After the bridge maybe another 5 sites, most pretty rugged offshoots. All taken on a wednesday at noon.
Beautiful wooded area with a nice little creek.
No amenities.
No cell service.

Nice quiet spot, perfect for my 4runner to overland camp. I did not have a trailer. love the sound of the creek all night.

dexter creek, right near trailhead/ creek crossing (which would need something nimbler than our 25’). There’s a nice flat spot by trail parking, but we leveled and backed in right next to the creek. Nothing like falling asleep with the sound of the creek. A few vehicles crossed in the pm/am, but quiet all night. Kids loved playing in the creek. There’s a third flat spot up a sort of ramp but someone had left their pop up up there.

I crossed the water and backed in the spot perfect spot there is no traffic at all because water crossing everybody is turning around but crossing is not to bad made it with toyota land cruiser i made nice fire pit

Parked directly across from Dennis Creek trailhead which is about as far as you can go before reaching private property. Several sites along this road, but all of them were taken on a Sunday so this seems to be a popular spot. Easy access to stream if you can filter your own water. Gravel road is in fair condition so no need for high clearance or 4WD. No cell service on ATT and no amenities, but it’s free.
