Something not right?

Description

Saw this on my way going trekking. Look decent. A bit better than just someone backyard. Price is 150pp and facilities unknown. For tent camping only. The place is actually a hostel (500pp in dorm), that also allow tent campers to pitch a tent. Not a big camp ground, probably can pitch not more than 6 tents. Just hope that it will let other tent campers like me find a place because there are not many input in iOverlanders for formal campsite in El Chaitén.

barely any space for tents, and 20,000 for a bed in a shared dorm, I didn't stay

Camping 200pp, dorm 500pp. Dorms are 6 beds, good beds, hot showers. Good kitchen. Rest of hostel is kinda run-down, but very warm atmosphere. Owner is very knowledgeable about climbing and is part of the local search-and-rescue team.

a little rustic, like a Mountain refugio, but the familly is very Nice and warmfull.

Open at this time of the season, very hotshower, common place with kitchen.

It's the hotspot for climber and alpinist.

the main hike for Fitzroy and Cerro Torre start from here.

It's more a tent place, not very flat for van, but ok with ramp.

cheapest place in town 150pp.

they have dorm too.

We went to Hem Hermu because 2 other campsites were closed for the season. We were able to park our campervan in the grassy field on their campsite. Not very even ground. Also not the cleanest place and it smells like smoke inside. Owner speaks English though and is friendly.

THE spot in El Chalten for climbers or mountain lovers with small budget, looking for beta on trad climbing/sport climbing/trekkingz Very wind protected, though small camping area in the “garden” which is mostly flat. 1 hot shower/toilet inside and fully equipped kitchen for campers to share with the people staying in the hostel. Dorms with private bathrooms if the weather is bad.
Loved it for its laid back and welcoming vibe and the relentless sources of information on just anything related to the mountains by Hugo, the boss.
Paid 150 pp/night for the camping. Dorms are 500pp.
If you can’t stand a bunch of old dogs and a laid back attitude when it comes to cleanliness, you might not like this place.
We can only recommend it - for us it made all the difference to our El Chalten experience!

Report Check-In

We camped here two nights in the garden. The cheapest option in El Chalten. The problem was that the owner and the employee of the hostel let way more people in that they actually can afford. The tables in the kitchen weren't enought for everybody, water tanks were quickly empty. The kitchen is rather dirty and not well equiped but the shower is clean. One shower for all guests and no lock on the toilet door. Nevertheless the atmosphere was good and people were nice :)
