Another free designated dispersed camping area along Mineral Creek Rd. The pit toilet was open. Fire rings.
Report Check-InFound this area, but it had just snowed and I didn't trust my altima could have gotten back up the hill that was snowy and icy. I opted for another spot on the road instead. Some traffic through the day, but completely quiet at night. Great spot if you're doing the Ice Lake trail the next day.
Report Check-InWe learned about this spot from a Ranger at the US Forest Office in Durango - she said it’s her favorite spot to camp in the area. A beautiful, peaceful, quiet stretch of land. Great camp host on-site. The views are breathtaking. The dirt road in was flat and easy to navigate in our large rig. Fire pits throughout. One other tent/car camper was within view, saw someone fishing, and a couple hiking. One bar of Verizon. Was able to stream Netflix/Hulu.
Report Check-InSkipped this place. beautiful drive but you camp 10 ft from everyone in a open field. not for us
