Bridge out | Warning

Today the new one lane bridge opened to traffic of all sizes. No longer have to drive through water or go around in any way. Good to go!

From East to West heading to Machu Picchu on 4th Feb 2019 police were stopping some vehicles from crossing and diverting them to the diversion mentioned in a previous post. Possible in a 2x4 Hyundai H1 3 tonne van.

On 6th Feb 2019 heading West to East, vehicles were being permitted through. We made the river crossing in our van as were the taxis in the area. Heading back we couldn’t see a police blockade stopping traffic East to West anymore.

Passed today on two DR650s. Water is a foot or more deep and keep going for about 100m. Passable with a fairly smooth bottom.

Bridge out on the hwy to Santa Teresa. Cars and buses are regularly getting stuck in the middle of strong stream, knee deep and more. Police is trying to manage the traffic, but it's not very organized. Some bulldozers present but reluctant to help. Be careful!
