A couple of options for the very boldest of wild campers on bicycles here, but would involve opening gates and being a bit sneaky, and there’s a fair bit of human activity around here it seems. We admitted defeat and went to the campground up the road.

Camping spot on the riverside of Rio Cajón just before the bridge. I used the water from the river to clean the dishes but further north is a small cascade on the main road from where you can take water.
For cars, access could be a bit tricky because the sand and small gravel is not well consolidate. I went by bike. Are few small trees to give you some wind protection.

Prívate place, a guy ask us to move away because of the trash leaved by other people…

For those wondering...the bridge has a height limit of 2.25m...i guess it will support anything that fits underneath

Good spot for a night if you want to get away from the dusty carretera.

We stayed one night. A man rode past in the evening and looked unhappy to find us here. The place looks like a construction site. We stayed for the night anyway and had no problems. We left at 9:30 the next morning and we didn't see any trucks! Very quiet for one night.

Looks and feels like a construction site. No entel connection. Not a nice place in my opinion, did not stay.

If coming from Cerro Castillo we found this to be the best spot in terms of being off the road. If very windy though “behind the rock” closer Castillo probably offers the most options for wind protection

Nice place with tons of room for vehicles. Stayed up on a plateau area to the right before the bridge. No wind protection, but it wasn’t too bad.

very beautiful place to rest, I had lunch there. The bridge is totally fine to drive and there is even good 3G from Entel.

There is no base for trucks anymore. Really nice and quiet place on the river. No problem for our 2WD van.
We didn't cross the bridge with our van, as we were not sure if it is stable or not. Later a local pick up crossed the bridge, so seems to be stable enough. They quickly stopped and were looking at us, but then they waved friendly and drove further. So seems to be OK to camp here.

Report Check-In

That's a great orange bridge, but why there?
Because of the road construction, the river Bank by the bridge has become a base for trucks and gravel. Noisy.
