Amazing! Spent a week here. You can do a lot of stuff. Caves are really cool. Horses are nice. Only mucho ticks, so check your dog! Other than that only nice words

Just an update as I forgot to mention it in my first check in. There are Ticks here, not a big deal just know that it’s a good possibility, you will find one crawling on you and should check yourself, your significant other and you pup if you have one before bed.
Also noticed Vampire bat bites on some of the horses, and confirmed that they were indeed bat bites, so make sure you and any pups you might have with you are protected by tent or wall while sleeping.
DO NOT let this keep you from this wonderful Finca, it is a great place to stay with very nice people, beautiful hikes, rides and yummy food. We stayed here on our way south, and again on the way north.

It could have been a perfect place but it is infected by ticks!! Be careful I had three ticks on my legs and plenty on my dogs. We could not stay outside and we left after one night.

Very nice and relaxing. Had rained recently so driving/camping on grass was not a good idea. camped on one of the 3 concrete RV pads. 50q per person. The dogs on the property are fixed and friendly, no problem with our dog. The restaurant food that we had was good and the people friendly. They have several guided hikes and some free hikes available as well as guided horseback rides with advanced scheduling. Elec available at RV sites for extra charge. We did not use as we had plenty of battery. Stayed 2 nights. They also have cute little cabanas for rent.

As described by everyone. What isn't mentioned is that they have miles of hiking trails, horses for trail rides, a swimming pond, treehouses available for rent, and maybe some other stuff I don't know about. Some of their staff are also fluent in English, and they host international volunteers. Right now there's an Austrian, a Colombian, and a guy from the USA.
Good spot, good vibes.

The restaurant is OK, but expensive. Popular with the locals, though.
One thing to be cautious of are the ticks. I had to pull one out of me yesterday, and just smashed another one in the shower.

Excellent campground! There are three concrete spots with electricity. At the moment the ground is very wet so it would be difficult to park on the grassy field. Bathroom is super clean and shower is very good, warm water! It is so peaceful and quiet here.

As already described, it is a very nice campground with a lot to offer. On the pitches you are under trees and it is shady. Starlink has no chance to connect. The restaurant, where there is good WiFi, is too far away.
There is also not enough light for solar.
Power connections are available, but the current is very unstable.
In the rainy season it is not advisable to stand on the grass field with a big rig.
The natural pool with a bar building looks pretty, but hasn't been used for a long time.

Beautiful site - super quiet. 50Qpp/n and 30Q for electricity. Please note that the spots with the concrete slabs are pretty shaded, so solar is not charging much if at all and Starlink connectivity is probably bad - we didn't bother to try since we had decent cell phone reception with Tigo and Claro and also some of the Wifi they provided.
Also - there were a couple of horses roaming around that they keep. Just so you know in case you are traveling with pets.

Super awesome camp site! We only stayed 1 night but we wanted to stay more but unfortunately this was just a stop for us on our drive from Tikal to Rio Dulce. It was an absolutely beautiful property that made you feel right in the jungle! They did have a separate area for camping with 3 paved level spots with electricity at each spot with its own private bathrooms and showers. Then they also had the restaurant and hotel in its own little area with again more bathrooms and showers. They also had a couple nice hikes right at the property which our little dog loved. It cost $50Q per person and an extra $30Q for electricity.

It’s a beautiful camping area, maybe the best we have seen in Guatemala, but for us not more than a stopover on our way to Tikal.
Still 50q/p and showers.
Good cellservice only small portion of dirtroad to get here from the highway. Perfect for any size of vehicle.

WOW. I wish we could stay a month. Quiet, safe, $50Q per person. Dogs loved the secluded parking area to roam around. Tons of birds!! Food is solid and piña coladas were a must after the horrific traffic getting here from Guatemala City.

Lovely spot. Basic but quality amenities, nice environment, friendly staff. Cost 100q for two people in a van for a night. Mosquitos were a little annoying just before sunset but were fine overnight. Would stay again.

Really beautiful property! Only thing to add is they’re building a new structure right beside the camping, so it’s hammering and saws from 7:30am-5pm. It looks like 80% finished, so maybe in a month or so it’ll be nice and quiet again! The treehouses looked super cute and are set further back from the construction!

Visitamos la finca en nuestra van, Q50 por persona para pasar la noche de camping, Q30 extra si se quiere utilizar electricidad. Igualmente los baños tienen enchufes asique con una extensión larga (5/6 metros) puede llegar bien al área del vehiculo.
El lugar es bellísimo, cuenta con cabañas/ casas del árbol para poder alquilar (Q285 sin baño y Q365 con baño en suite). Las duchas son calientes, baños limpios. Recomendamos tener repelente para los mosquitos y hormigas. Hay parrillas a leña para poder cocinar, con ollas disponibles para ese fin.

During the pandemic, prices have gone up. Q50/person/night in a motorhome and Q30/night for electricity. Credit cards accepted. Restaurant and Wifi are 150m away. 3 concrete platforms for motorhomes, newly made, with power plugs. To fill your water tank you either have to use the little sink tap in the outhouse or use the tap close to the owner's house. Water seems clean enough for us to drink, the owner drinks it, also.

Came here for a overnight stop to divide our drive and ended up staying three nights because of its beauty and tranquility and awesome climate. Camp or sleep in a 'treehouse' of this forest glade and enjoy the calmness.

2min walk from little lagoon to swim in (don't let the algae scare you off, they are much better than it looks).

Nice pila with roof to wash sishes and laundry.

Showers and toilets are cleaned daily. Showers are warm enough when turning the valve to a low flow.

Had the burritos at the restaurant and they were dissapointing (dry and 5mm thick tortilla). After that we did not want to try the burgers or any of the few other dishes offered. Not sure if they deserve the positive food posts on ioverlander.

You can connect your hose to the tap behind the toilets.
Power plugs to be found at toilets and underneath first 'treehouse'.

Bugs bit us only at dusk for an hour only.

Check out the water ram pumps (water pumps which use jist water flow and no electricity for pumping) 50m down river from the Non-swimming lagoon.

Can only confirm what others have written, we had a great stay ! The one thing we liked best was the quiet, no noise whatsoever... We slept like babies surrounded by nature and under a sky full of stars. We bought fresh homemade bread from the restaurant. Seems they charge large rigs 25Q extra for electricity, not the case for us with our 4x4 with rooftop tent. We were able to plug in at one of the cabanas wit our extension cord.

We spend the Christmas days at Finca Ixobel (5 nights).
Quiet place, very friendly staff, big property, lovely lake for swimminv, parrot, horses, dogs, cats and (!) terrible ants!!!!
The restaurant is ok, they serve burgers and sometimes buffet.
The wifi (only) at the restaurant was fine, the showers not realy hot.

This place is super comfortable. The cabe hike is an absolute must, best cave hike we’ve done so far! You could bring some dry clothes and extra pair of shoes for the way back, we didn’t and were also fine, but when it’s not that sunny you could get a bit cold after the cave. Prepare to swim and bring a flashlight. Camping for 40Qpp and hike for 85Q pp (with 5 people)

- Really nice place. 40Q pp for camping and 55Q for dorm. Other reasonable options available.
- Large camp ground with bathrooms, washing clothes area (sink), natural pool, walks, small playground.
- Buffett was good, they serve for you which is plenty of food. 65q option seems the most logical as the plates are on the small side so you can only have so much. The veggie quiche was super delicious and their salad dressings tasty too. Also chips and burger from the menu good value and tasty.
- the Cueva Del Río hike was awesome. It's about 18-20kms road trip but over 3/4s is flat before a small pass nearer the cave. It's the best cave experience we've ever had - super fun but be mindful of rain fall (as previously advised). You need good grip boots I'd say for the later part of the hike and some muddy areas, but definitely also trainers or something to wear in the cave. We all wore trainers/tennis shoes and just about survived but I'd have preferred to have used hiking boots and then trainers (to get wet) for the cave. You need to be pretty active for the cave and it's a good walk so definitely 6-8 hours depending on speed and time in the cave. Take a good lunch. We paid Q85pp as a group of 4 but 2 I believe would be Q120pp. Highly recommended.

Very delicious food and fair prices for all. no need to bring food. very friendly staff. common area with hammocks, table tennis and good Wi-Fi. nice natural lake for swimming. we could relax so nicely that we stayed 6 nights instead of 2. watch out for the animals around - we even saw tucans. highly recommended! we will come back

the buffet is pricey but it is SO SO good
we stayed 5 days ; ate late breakfast/brunch in the van and then had the buffet and it was enough food for the day.
there are hikes to do around : the one that climbs the pyramid is not so enjoyable , hard to climb and full of ticks. the other one that goes to the mount Cerroz something is nice

Wifi disponible uniquement dans la zone du restaurant. Table de pingpong, bibliothèque, jeux pour enfants extérieurs. L’équipe est super sympa, vous pouvez payer en CB. Quelques voyageurs en véhicules ou en sac-à-dos qui dorment dans les cabanes. Certains y font même du volontariat plusieurs jours. Les chiens sont les bienvenus et sans supplément de prix.
Très bon endroit pour faire un break pendant votre road trip !

A very nice Finca with a large grassy field. 2 minutes by walk, you can enjoy swimming in a little lake. They propose very nice horse riding at good price. For us, it was a little paradise.

Cute place. It was rainy so we opted to stay in a dorm at 55q each. Had the dorm to ourselves and parked right outside the window. One of the showers for the dorm was warm. There was a covered patio with a table outside where we cooked with our campstove. Better than dealing with camping in the mud.

It is a nice and quiet place for the night. They have really goos facilities and you can swim in the laguna or walk up to a viewpoint. It is possible to make a fire. We paid 40 per person.

Spent a night here on our way to Tikal. We paid 105Q for the two of us in our camper with electricity. Big grassy and muddy area for overlanders. We got stuck in the mud but they helped us out. They offer electricity but you need a long extension. Toilets were clean, a bit far from where we parked. We had dinner at the restaurant, and felt disappointed, food was ok but the portions were too small.

Great sight offering lots of options, cabins small to meduim size, private bathroom or shared to camping (no kitchen). great fresh bread and cakes from their bakery, , good restaurant food, options for a buffet 85gqs to salad only buffet 45gqs, good selection also from the stand alone menu, including a 1lb pattie in a bun with chips... private swiming hole, walks and nearby caves (3). we stayed in a mid prices tree house, private double, 185gqs plus tax. clean, spacious the owner was happy for us to park our 2 bikes under the awnings.

This is an great stopping point between Belize border and Rio Dulce. We have been here 5 times, and enjoy it each time. Lots of things to see and do. Tours right from the facility. The food is excellent (though a little pricey for Guatemala). If you can make the Saturday evening buffet, it's worth it! Lots of food, two options, Q65, or Q80. Camp area was a little wet, after heavy rains. Used 4x4 to get to site, to keep from digging ruts.

NO SPANISH SCHOOL! I'm a bit mad since the iOverlander review is clearly writen by them less then a year ago, and I looked it up on the Internet, found the website, and wrote them an email. The least they could have done was tell us it was no longer running. We'll we drove out here to learn this. The place is big, and pretty. We didn't stay since it's cold and raining, so a dip in the river or pools does not sound fun at the moment.

Be careful with the river cave tour in rainy season.
Unfortunately, the owner or guide did not inform us in advance about the hiking conditions.
After a few days of rain the whole trek was trough deep and slippery mud. Partly the route leads over cow pastures, where the cow dung mixes with the mud (yummy)
The slower hikers in our group took more than 10 hours fot the advertised 6-7 hour trip.
The cave itself is beautiful but not worth battling through mud for hours.
(If its bad the first 20 minutes, it will not get better)

We really loved the Finca. The food is great, swimming in the natural pond is refreshing and they offer different activies (horseriding, cave tours, etc). As a bonus they have very fast internet - it does not reach campsite - but sitting in the cafe is fine. Depending on where you camp you might need an extra long extension cord for electricity. 40Q pp. , Kids < 10 are free.

Every one passing through Peten Guatemala needs to know about this Place....in addition to excellent lodging, and dinning good for any budget there is also the opportunity to Learn Spanish at the Academia Ixobel Poptun Spanish School at Finca Ixobel. It is a truly Authentic Spanish Language Learning Environment...still untouched by tourist and guided by professionally trained one on one instructors, I can say it has been my best Spanish Language study experience to date.

35Q/person/night. It had been raining so we parked in front of the common area and camped there. At least the wifi reached our van and we didn't find it too slow. Dinner buffet was excellent. Not actually a buffet, you get one serving but it was plenty of food. Two options: one is 60Q and you get one of two salads, vegetables and entrees, the other option is 75Q and you get a helping of everything they have. I had servings of 5 different vegetables! I don't remember the last meal I had with so much veg, it was amazing. Both include fantastic homemade bread, juice, coffee and tea. Didn't use the showers. They have horseback riding and cave tours.

The restaurant is mostly American food and expensive compared to what we have been used to paying at small comedores and street stands, Q$41 for a simple burger and fries. Overall nice place and the lady who seems to run the place speaks great English.

We stayed at this facility 2 times in February 2015. Excellent food in the restaurant. Lots of grassy areas for camping. Rooms also available. Bathroom tip: Use the ones behind the dorms. They are electric so the water is hot. Keep the pressure low and you will get steady hot water. Others onsite are heated by the sun, so cool in the morning. Coordinates here took us past the actual entrance, but signs mark the entrance well. Drinks are on your honor. A tab is kept during your stay for food and drinks. You can pay at the end with cash or credit card with 5% fee.

When we got here, it had been raining for two weeks so the campground was a muddy mess, the manager let us park in the driveway in front of the hotel instead – PROS: beautiful campground/farm/hostel/hotel, electric (available with an extension cord where we were parked, if you park in the campground the only outlet is in the bathroom palapa), in-house bakery means amazing fresh bread daily, honor system food and drinks, hot showers, you can pay for everything (camping, food, drinks) at the end on a credit card (5% credit card fee) – CONS: free wifi only available in a corner of the common area and didn’t work most of the time, no where to wash dishes (there might be a sink in the campground area?), pretty limited lunch menu which if you stay for more than a couple of days you will get sick of (we ended up eating “out” a lot because there was no where to wash dishes except at the dorm bathroom), “all-you-can-eat” buffet dinner is actually portioned out for you (still a ton of food) and they served leftovers three nights in a row, should a “big group for a wedding” show up be prepared to be completely ignored by the owners – 35 GTQ/person/night to camp plus 10 GTQ for electric/night

This is a big finca/ranch just off the highway about half way from Tikal to Rio Dulce. The camping facilities are good, plenty of space, and they have a great restaurant. Most of their guests rent rooms or cabañas. Lots of activities and tours can be arranged from here.

Beautiful area for backpackers and campers. Friendly staff, many attractive tours to tourist destinations in Guatemala. Many options to camp. Clean bathrooms with lukewarm showers. Restaurant with reasonable prices. Slow free WIFI at the restaurant. Unfortunately, when we were there it was raining extensively for days, so the camping area was soaked and almost impassable for our car.
