Description

Expensive resort with non-expensive camping. Just half an hour drive to the border to Rwanda makes this an excellent place to stay when doing the border crossing.

A double room is 115 USD (but is overpriced for what you get). However, camping is 15 USD per unit (car/tent) and includes a good breakfast for 1 person. Additional breakfasts are 7 USD per person. Good selection of fruits, toast, pancake, egg, bacon and more.

The camping ground is really big and could easily fit some 30 vehicles. It’s nice and flat grass.

There’s a small ablutions block, but the manager opened a cabin for us and let us use the toilet and shower in there.

Just next to the lake, which supposedly is Bilharzia free. However, there’s no real beach which makes getting into the water a bit hard (but doable).

Food is quite expensive at 10 USD for a lunch.

Follow the signs from the main road.

we didn't stay decided to keep going to Rwanda but confirmed over the phone that the price of camping was 25usd for two people including breakfast. we didn't go but they said over the phone they were replanting trees so wasn't as much space for overlanders etc. Might be worth stopping in to check the lay of the land though!

We were so looking forward to this place after reading the reviews but upon arrival the manager called another manager who asked for 25 USD PER PERSON. Coming from Rwanda where we paid 5 USD ppn in 90% of the places that sounded crazy, so we left. Also note they said they were building a proper campsite and for now we would stay on the lawn between the cottages and the new huge cottages they are building (which sadly took all the views to the lake and the mountains from the lawn and existing cottages area).

Nice stay, location and reasonable amenities. Breakfast and being introduced to a Rolex was good! 25USD per tent and includes one breakfast pp, but they waivered our 2 year old tent with charging him half price breakfast. Extra breakfast is USD7 pp. Recommend this spot!

We really loved this place.
Clean bathroom in a cottage.
Grassy field with lake view to camp.
Price still 25 USD for 2 incl. big breakfast.
The performance comes from heart and takes roughly 45 min.

As all I have said before us, very good and welcoming staff. They even offered to take our very muddy hiking boots and clean them for us. We will try mark the turnoff from tar when leaving otherwise you will have to follow paths and small tracks to get there but they will get you there nonetheless

As indicated before: really great campsite, where you park on a grassy lawn next to a lake. They opened a nice cottage for toilet and shower facilities. They also have a good restaurant. Rate $25,- for two persons incl. breakfast. But the best thing is, they also support the local community primary school. So if they ask if you would like a traditional dance performance: say yes! The school principle, teachers, parents and off course children will come over for an evening performance around the campfire. Much better then we have seen in many places, as they do it with great passion in order to support their school. So give generously after the performance, as it is for the good cause. It is also possible to visit the community school; highly recommendable. And not to forget, also the staff is really nice. The campsite deserves your visit.

Nice spot- flat grassy area in front of chalets for camping. Plenty of space for multiple vehicles.

You are given access to warm shower/toilet in one of the rooms- there isn’t a dedicated ablution block for campers.

Power is available, however while we were there wifi wasn’t working. They build a nice large fire to enjoy in the evenings. Clean well water was available from a tank behind the restaurant. Very friendly staff / management. The resort supports a local community school which also does cultural performances should you be interested.

Approx 30 min drive from tarmac- don’t follow maps.me. Watch out for the resorts’ signage.

Paid 20 for 2 people per night / no breakfast.

Just a lovely hidden gem. Very nice resort and campground in between hills and volcanoes. The perfect place to stay when doing border crossing from Uganda to Rwanda or the other away around as we did. Lots of activities to book at the resort (bird watching, canoeing, village walk etc.). We were the only visitors for the night so we could pick the perfect spot on the grass with our RTT, with view on the Muhavura volcano. We had a 3-course dinner and it was very good, both the vegetarian and the meat option. Very kind personnel.

25usd for camping for 2 people and it includes a very nice English breakfast for 2 set up so that you have a view while eating. They opened a cabin for us to use the bathroom and we parked right in front of it. The restaurant and cottage wifi signal could be reached from the campsite. Nice hot showers and electricity. If we didn't have to cross the Rwanda border we probably would have stayed longer. Beautiful view of a dorment volcano. The road there makes you doubt sometimes if this place exists but it does. Their entrance gate is quite high. Our truck is 3.2m high. We guess the gate must be about 4m high. We were the only guests.
