Description

Just a bit further south from the place nearby, which was between black rocks. Here the beach is open. In between the two points large groups were camping with so much filth and garbage around them. Here it’s average.... still a lot. We were far enough not to hear the neighbour’s music at night.

Latest Check-Ins

To be honest, this place disgusted me with the sheer amount of garbage. I entered via the caleta to the South and it is literally a dumping ground all the way (2km) from there to the end of the beach in the rocks. Yes, some will have washed ashore from all over the world, but the sheer volume around away from shore can only be attributed to a lot of local dumping. I stayed, because it was getting late and I didn't want to stop in Tocopilla, but seriously, if you are heading south and have another hour of driving in you, go to Hornitos where you are on the beach and it's relatively clean, or playa grande a little further still where you'll have a gorgeous, but not suitable for swimming, beach all too yourselves.

Report Check-In

We stopped nearby for lunch today and it seems like this open area is now being used to build a bunch of new houses. Depending on developments, it may make sense to mark this location as closed for future overlanders.

The nearby pin (just north) is inbetween the rocks and still looked like an option, but the shear amount of garbage around. We'd look elsewhere.
