Something not right?

Description

They checked our fruits and vegetables. We had a lot of fresh food with us, but they said just our grapes are a problem. So right now we are at the checkpoint and eating grapes...

You must pay for “disinfection”, they spray your vehicle with Cypermethrin. Be careful if traveling with cats or pregnant, it is a toxic chemical.

Northbound phyto-zoo-sanitary control. They charge 35 ARS to spray your vehicle (mainly underneath) with cypermethrin (google it). Careful if traveling with cats or if pregnant since it is a toxic chemical!! ⚠️

Report Check-In

They stopped us and asked for 35AP for the desinfection of our car. We only had big bills so they just winked us through. After this you drive through the desinfection and that’s all. No question about fruits or anything else, they only asked where we were heading. Easy!

Report Check-In

I can confirm that it looks like they only care about grapes. We stocked up on some fruit and veggies in Mendoza, which included onions, capsicum, carrots, apples, bananas, but these didn't interest the officer at all. He just nodded as we mentioned what we had in the car, and eventually asked if we also had grapes. We didn't and so we were waved on.

Remember to close your windows after passing the control guy because you'll drive through an automated spraying system. This should mostly only hit the bottom of your car, but better safe than sorry. Whatever they're spraying can't be too healthy.
