Closure is not management!

Beautiful landscape with well maintained primitive campsites. I stayed in the group site as I arrived after dark and the private sites I passed seemed occupied. Group site is spacious—with 4 or 5 vehicles already here and another one or two arriving after me, we are still well spaced and there was no noise disruption overnight.
From I-70 west, take exit 2 for Rabbit Ears and turn left at the stop. Continue across the interstate and then onto the gravel road, bearing left and then straight, following signs for campsites. Gravel road is in good condition although deeply rutted in some places. My 2WD Sprinter did just fine.

We were able to access the RV/trailer spots in Rabbit Valley in our ProMaster after a period of minimal precipitation in January 2022. The county road (first left after entering the parking area) is in good shape but does have some mud puddles that would be worse with more precipitation. We drove about a mile down the Kokopelli county road and camped at the group camp area, which was gravelled and has a pit toilet. We passed other camp sites due to how muddy they were. Stayed for two nights and enjoyed the beautiful scenery!

Great campsite. Far enough away from the highway it feels secluded and safe, but not too far if you need a quick overnight. The campsite has great rocks for kids to play on. We had full Verizon service. And we found a flat spot without using our levelers.

Report Check-In

Not too many sites but the views were really pretty and the sites has campfire rings and tables. Good amenities for what otherwise looks to be BLM land.

Report Check-In

Large, secluded spots with lots of rocks for playing around. Great for the dogs because they can roam a long ways and still be clearly seen. Fire pits and primitive toilets

Report Check-In

We stayed at the big lot just past the cattle guard (not at the campsites up the road). Lots of other people in vans/RVs, but the space is big enough that we didn’t hear them at all. Only inconvenience is the lot is a big circle with no trees, so a bit hard to use the bathroom unless it’s nighttime. Super convenient for an overnighter though as it’s right off the highway.

Report Check-In

Stayed at the jouflas campground about a mile off I-70 since the overlook spot was taken. Pit toilets, great rocks to climb on and pretty good views.

Desert with beautiful rocks and boulders. We must return. large parking area.

One of the established primitive sites in the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. This place is primarily used for OHV purposes, but today (a Monday) it was very quiet. Nice wide spot that will accommodate several large rigs (up to 5 RVs, would make a great group site) if need be. Road in was rutted but doable easily in 2WD. Clearance is helpful. Full Google Fi service. No toilets and site requires you pack out your poop using a portable toilet. Nice views of the surrounding hills. You can see the highway but can just barely hear it. Lots of access to OHV trails, but would have to travel a bit to get to the mountain bike trails.
