Latest Check-Ins

This area is most definitely NOT closed. As others have stated, 1st 2nd and 8th streets have signs posted for 3 hour pakring 8am-6pm. There are NOT signs “in the whole area that say no overnight parking” someone is trying to be a jerk and get it marked closed. The streets that are parallel to the river DO have “no overnight” posted. Stayed here two nights. A few other rigs each night. Even some empty cars that have been parked in the same spot for 2+ days with no tickets or boots. Area is not patrolled. In fact Im not sure there are even cops in Hood River.

I think everyone needs to understand the difference in ‘camping’ and ‘parking’ - camping means doing something OUTSIDE of your vehicle, parking means parking. Here there are no overnight CAMPING signs on the park side obviously meaning don’t set up your tent. You can park here in your van/whatever so long as you are adhering to the 3 hour parking signs. 8am-6pm, there is a 3 hour parking sign. There are vans etc all over Portway. On a side note, I wish we could all come to an understanding as to what the differences in “camping” and “parking” are lol

signs up - “no overnight parking” all throughout waterfront

Report Check-In

One side of the street says no overnight parking. The other doesn’t. But we didn’t want to risk it so we parked on 2nd street even though we were the only ones. Fine cell service.

Don’t park on Portway Ave (parallel to river). Park on 1st/2nd/8th (perpendicular to river). There are “no overnight camping” signs on Portway and and none on 1st/2nd/8th, which seems intentionally tolerant. Portway is right in front of businesses, so kinda not cool and I can see Hood River becoming less tolerant if it continues to happen.

On 1st/2nd/8th streets, it’s not as “in your face”. This whole area is very nice, very well lit and feels very safe. However, 8th St is adjacent to waste water treatment plant so I stayed on 2nd. There was also construction trucks throughout the night so I heard the “beeping sounds”. However, not overwhelmingly loud at all. I put in earplugs and didn’t hear a thing!

Free clean easy peezy dump station at the waste water treatment plant on 8th.

Overnight parking no longer allowed. it is posted everywhere.

Tough to find a spot in the midst of a kiteboarding weekend event, but we did it and were undisturbed. After staying in the woods mostly for a couple weeks the light traffic noise was tough to sleep through.

There is a mix of private lots, paid public parking, special event parking, and this spot so it’s tough to get at first. No shade either.

This place worked out well. It’s not quite as waterfront as I thought it would be but it’s still very close to the water and a fairly quiet place to crash. Bonus is if you can eat at the pizza place or one of the shops across and get their Wi-Fi. The brewery a few doors down has Wi-Fi as well but I didn’t park near there. There is town wifi which was ok. Also don’t understand why nobody puts pictures of their stay so I added a few. Easy walk to the park which was a nice swim in the morning during these 110° days

Adoramos essa cidade, muito tranquila. A Internet pública funciona bem e dormimos muito tranquilos por aqui. A vista e o lugar são lindos.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night. Just as described. Quiet night and a few other campers there as well.

Absolutely perfect place, all other cars beside mine left at night, parking is free all day but there's a 3 hour limit from 8am-6pm. Get here at 4 and sleep in peace, the road had very little traffic on a Friday night. Slept like a baby

Report Check-In

Great spot. Stayed several nights. Lots of other vans, cars. The amount of parking is somewhat limitless. Goes for blocks with no signs restricting parking.
Also much going on in there area kite and board surfing making all the rigs blend in, you’ll feel like a local.

Large breweries across the street. Check out Stoked Coffee Roasters, and Solstice Pizza. Up the hill check out Kickstart Coffee and Kitchen. Great vibe, great food.

as described, there is also free public WiFi near stoked coffee shop. outdoor shower by the restrooms in the park. We didn't park here overnight, though it looks like a few people did. The city is adding more and more pay street parking in this area so be discreet or this will go away as well.

Quite, no hassle. Signs say 3 hour limit from 8a-6p so I left by 8am.
