Chile: 1st Migration: married? Profession? Destination? got a paper slip for the car.
2nd: Hand in TIP, Show slip, get Saal on slip
Argentina: 1st: Migration: destination? get another seal on slip
2nd: hand in slip, get new TIP

all super fast, all very friendly, not even asking about food we had in the car, no inspection whatsoever.

Report Check-In

Quick and efficient place to enter Argentina from Chile. The entire process from exiting Chile to entering Argentina took less than an hour!

Report Check-In

Easiest border crossing on the whole continent so far. Nobody checked the vehicles on either side. (Crossing from Chile to Argentina).

30mins max total (for both sides together)

Report Check-In

Entering Argentina: no fruits or vegetables allowed. They did a quick check in our van but didn't seem to care about meat or dried food.

Report Check-In

Entering Chile from Argentina with SUV and dog. I will only comment on dog things as everything else is the same. We did our health certificate in Gobernador Gregores and SENASA certificate in Perito Moreno. After we did the immigr/ation/passports and aduana, we asked if we needed to do the SENASA for the dog. It seems like the National Guard is the one who does this check, this is the second time, so not a dedicated SENASA person. He was so friendly!! We had left our dog in the car during all of this, so no problem there. He took both my copies (2) of the papers that I had gotten from the Perito Moreno SENASA office, took it back to his office and did lots of stamping. He gave me back both copies. He did not need to stamp the slip of paper given from immigration. When we got back into our car and drove through the border, the officer wanted to verify that we had our papers stamped for the dog by the officer inside. (This is the second border crossing that this has been asked for.) Everyone was really friendly.

Report Check-In

we were honest and said we had a few potatoes and onions when they asked, then they did a thorough check looking for anything else and instead of taking it and letting us go they held is here for an hour while they proceeded to right us a fine. best to not have any fruit, vegetables or animal products of any kind or amount...

Report Check-In

Exit Argentina to Chile with camper and dogs.
Park to the side. Go in building with papers. Show passport and vehicle ownership. Get checked out and receive a slip of paper (keep that slip of paper) Go to aduana (next window) Show passport, ownership and TIP. They keep TIP and stamp the slip (don’t lose it). Return to vehicle and drive through. No dog questions.

Report Check-In

Very smooth border crossing. Surprisingly they only asked for our vehicle registration to get a TIP. Only a cursory check of our fridge and a couple cabinets. It was more slow and crowded than on the Chilean side.

Report Check-In

Fast Service. But to get from one Border to the other, its a long walking way.

Report Check-In

Entering Argentina. 10 min. Step#1. Passport control. Step#2. Get your vehicle permit. Inspected vehicle briefly. Did not take any fruit, etc.

Report Check-In

Easy entrance into Argentina. No American Visa requirements and no 100 people a day limits. Very quick van check and they didn’t mind our opened non-perishables.

Report Check-In

Max 20 minutes in and out including customs with our foreign car. Friendly, efficient staff. Asked if we had any fruit or veg but barely checked our vehicle

Report Check-In

Border is now open 8h to 22h everyday, both sides.

Report Check-In

Entering Argentina was very easy. Just a little time consuming as the very friendly lady at the aduana didn't recognise our Dutch Passport and Vehicle Registration cards. So the first took a bit longer, the other one was done in a jiffy,

Report Check-In

Muito tranquila e rápida essa aduana, para entrar novamente na Argentina, tivemos que apresentar a declaração juramentada, e os demais documentos de sempre. O pessoal bem atencioso.

Report Check-In

Right now only 100 persons per day allowed to enter Argentina at this paso. We arrived at 4am on the Chilean side unsure how early people would line up and our fear was unfounded. Next person showed up at 7:40, 20 minutes before opening. Took 15 minutes to enter immigration and aduana information. They did not look inside our vehicle nor did they speak any English. Everyone was courteous. No PCR required if you've been in Chile for longer than 14 days.

Report Check-In

Crossed into Argentina here. After receiving our exit stamps in Chile we proceeded to this building. Received entrance stamp at one window then paperwork for vehicles at the window right next to it. They didn’t even search our motorbikes, just passed through. It all took about 15 mins, super easy crossing.

Report Check-In

Argentinian side of the separated border control, need to bring the stamped paper you got in Chile (when going from Chile to Argentina). Entry was smooth, a line with the aduana but they worked through it rather quickly. Guy at the aduana counter not too friendly though, he was apparently looking for some rental papers before asking a collegue where those papers could be, and then she asked us if it was ours, which it is. He didn't really say a word to us directly, pretty strange. At the check a guy took the leftover veggies we did not manage to eat, and created a document that stated their confiscation. Friendly guy though, he said it 4 times that we would not be fined, and that it was nothing more than a formality.

Report Check-In

Easiest border we experienced so far : we did the papers part in 5 min and our car was not checked at all.

Report Check-In

Chile to Argentina: easiest border so far (coming all the way from the north). Super fast, no one even looked at our car (not even at the jerrycan full of fuel on our rooftop, which we had to empty at all other borders). Plus extremely friendly people!

Report Check-In

Slight update, during summer time the schedule is 8am - 10pm.

Report Check-In

We had trouble with our hired van paperwork and they were really understanding. They didn’t search our van going into Argentina. All the staff were really friendly.

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -46.55961, -71.65462

Report Check-In

Friendly and effective immigration and customs office. Open from 8:00 to 20:00.

Report Check-In

straight forward, but they did make us throw out lettuce, celery ham and salami (We could keep bacon... maybe coz it was unopened?)

Report Check-In

Usually it’s not allowed to take fruits or vegetables to Chile. This was the first time it was prohibited to Argentina. We had to throw away a lot :(

Report Check-In

Crossing from chile to argentina: No fruits , no vegetables, no eggs even boiled , no meat. Same things if you drive from argentina to chile. Maybe sometimes they don't check but I wouldn't take the risk.

Report Check-In

Quick and easy border crossing. Didn't even check our truck camper for contraband food.

**PS - Canadians still need some sort of reciprocity visa. Didn't understand details of what they were saying. So did a sneaky swap to our Aussie passports but they still needed to see exit stamp out of Canadian passports. No fee and no problem. All very nice here. Definitely the fastest and easiest border crossing. Didn't even have to show my drivers license for the car.

Report Check-In

We've rent a campervan in Santiago of Soul Vans and we're bringing it to Punta Arenas, Chili again. No troubles passing this border. They were very polite. We're from Holland.

Report Check-In

Be aware of the opening times, 800-2000. nice people at the border, the Douane took only 1 minute for our camper pickup.

Report Check-In

All information in the previous post about reciprocity fees is no longer relevant. There are NO reciprocity fees between the US and Chile. No special visa or advanced planning needed. Fine little border crossing, though slow.

Report Check-In

A handful of people at this side. We were entering Argentina, very very nice Aduana guy helped us with our new import permit for the car. Immigration plus Aduana took 15 mins total. Car search afterward took less than 5. Maybe the shortest border we've had on the whole trip.

Notes
Reciprocity Fees: Argentina recently changed their rules for collecting reciprocity fees for US, Canadian and Australian citizens. Fees were previously only collected if you entered via a major airport. Now fees must be paid online and in advance for all border crossings, including land borders. Go to  this website [LINK: https://virtual.provinciapagos.com.ar/ArgentineTaxes/Registro.aspx] , pay your fee and print the receipt. Take this with to the border. The current fees are: $160 for the United States (valid for 10 years), $100 for Australians (valid for 1 year) and $75 for Canadians (valid for one entry) or $150 (valid for multiple entries).
Border crossings further south: If coming from the southern part Carretera Austral note that there is another crossing, east of the town of Cochrane, called Paso Roballos. We heard multiple times that this road was in very poor condition and decided to take the easier road to the north. There is also a rumor that there will soon be a border crossing for vehicles just northeast of Villa O'Higgins. At this time the road on the Argentinian side, including one very important bridge over the Rio Mayer, has not been completed.

The StepsDrive to the Chilean immigration and customs building 3.5 miles outside of the town of Chile Chico.Go to the immigration counter and hand over your passports with your tourist card that you received upon entry.
