Description

the ferry between Guyana and Surinam broke down on 27th of may. they had a substitution working the following weekend to get stranded cars back in their own country but for some political and financial reasons nothing since then. looks like there is almost no local traffic waiting for the ferry and pedestrians are now allowed to use small boats to cross. so nobody knows how long this situation will last. AS FOR TODAY THERE'S NO WAY TO CROSS WITH A VEHICLE BETWEEN GUYANA AND SURINAM

Report Check-In

The ferry is operational again. More info at the ferry input.

Report Check-In

The ferry is still not operational. The latest news we could find (govt press announcement around 3 Sep) is that the service will be functioning again at the of Sept 2019. Whether that proves true - who knows. There was also a recent incident involving a tug boat and the Demerera Harbour Bridge which links west and east Georgetown so check that is reopened as well as it was closed and the only way to cross the river is by speed boat (no vehicles)
