Lovely spot in a river bed off the D3703 rocky road. Next to a dam. Listed as Ovivero Dam Camping on Maps.me. On sand. 4x4 recommended. Be careful of hundreds of cows coming to drink at the dam in the morning. We didn’t see any one but there are little huts nearby.

Tried to hide my vehicle to the side of the dry river bed and about 200m away from the dam, but at about 17:00, a local on a donkey came straight towards me. No English, but I gave him a beer and a t-shirt. Then he saw spare shoes in my vehicle and wanted it. He even took it out, but I said no. He wanted to know if I traveled alone and I could see the shoes were heavy on his mind. When he left, I knew I was at risk for a nightly visit, so I also packed up and drove on to bush camp further along the road.
Report Check-InWild camping near the dam, lots of cows, very quit at night. lot of shadows. no fireplace, easy access. very confortable
Report Check-InWe camped to the far right of the lake, beautiful spot. Surprisingly no mosquitos. Very peaceful night. In the morning we met some himba who had brought their goats down to drink, shared our breakfast with them. Lovely experience.
