We spent the night, but a ranger came through mid-morning and said we had to leave or pay the day use fee. The day use fee is good for the entire recreation area, so we paid it and spent the day.

Many great sites here, with a nice range of full sun, partial shade, and more shaded. There's also a large parking lot at the trailhead which will be full sun for sure. T-Mobile is at full strength. The gravel road in is short and buttery smooth. Pack it and pack it out!

There are campsites all over the area around the CDT. I rode my bike yesterday and saw plenty of sites on Knights Canyon, Mill Canyon, and C Bar Ranch roads. The road condition for all of these options are smooth, easy dirt leading to generally level sites, with a mix of sun and shade. Knights Canyon Road is sandy but the other two are hard pack.

Great place to spend the night! We stayed there in spring and didn't see a soul.
Magnificent view of the hills by the lake.
You have to go down a bad road, but it's passable if you drive slowly.
Mini beach 5m away, cool bathing area.

large place for cars, safe and quiet, the only problem is the cars that pass by, it is a main avenue

lugar grande para autos, seguro y tranquilo, el único problema son los autos que pasan, es una avenida principal

Without a 4WD vehicle, you can access the platform but, given the condition of the short but very bad dirt Road, you will not be able to go back up to the main road.

The most friendly people here. We parked on the school side of the park mid afternoon. A maintenance person drove up and chatted with us. Let us know it was fine to park there. We didn’t use the bathrooms as they said they shut off the water to the park. We didn’t check. Dumpsters are available. We were next to the basketball court and kids played for a while but nothing else after dusk. Train noise but we liked it. Nice. Will stop again.

Closed. Doesn't look like it's opening soon. I stayed at the restaurant nearby.

We stayed here for one night with our tent and 2 motorcycles. Lovely place, super calm at night and nobody was around. It was also quite clean which was nice.

Was debating not leaving a review as to keep this spot a kind of hidden gem.
I will say, there were some unhoused locals who had claimed spots as well as cartel selling some illicit goods at the entrance, but we were never bothered. lots of gringos walking their dogs or on caballo tours. we were cautious not to leave anything out overnight, but we never felt unsafe! we were supposed to just spend one night and move on, but ended up staying 2 and debating a 3rd, bit our timeline didn't allow it.
there were showers and baños there, but locked up when we were there. Make sure to explore the town.

Do not use Google maps to navigate to this spot. It took us on some random off-roads then tried to have us drive straight through a river?? we gave up and went to ajijic instead.

Arrived at midnight. Parked under a tree. Relatively quiet despite close distance to I-10. Woke up to lots of birds chirping above us in the trees. We have can but they have pull through for RVs. Outside bathrooms were closed but during business hours they let you use the bathrooms inside. Felt safe.

Made it up in a sedan was a little sketchy on the way up but fine as long as you’re paying attention and the road is dry. Stayed for several days, very busy on the weekends lots of atv and dirtbikes. Excellent cell signal and pit toilets at the bottom of the hill in the entrance area

We did not stay. The place is trashed. Mattresses, dressers, burnt out small wagon and general garbage everywhere. Prime example of why public lands are getting shut done.

Very nice, clean, modern hotel with underground parking and an elevator. When I messaged them they quoted me rates between 110-220 soles. I offered 90 soles and they accepted (with parking but not including breakfast). This feels like Marriott or similar level hotel. It has a 5 star rating on Google maps. Clean white sheets, a very hot shower, and a fluffy towel. The rooms have wood floors so your feet don’t freeze like they do on tile floors. The location is great. It is two blocks from the Talavera square so everything is close but no noise from the street.

Nice location, the clostest of 4 campsites to the waterhole. No center tree for shade, so bring your awning. We didn't camp here, just passed by on our way to number 2, so cannot speak for the bucket shower or the pit toilet.

Surprised how good this place was! Only one car passed us during the whole evening, night and morning. The sky in the middle of the night was clear and full of stars, also the milky way was visible.

The location is 30 miles north of Kingman,AZ. Right off of the road. Listed as a nature preserve on Google. * No Campfires*.
Drive out onto the Dry Lake Bed and find a spot to stop. Wide open space with no trees or shade. It's a dry lake bed.

We camped here in our sprinter for 3 nights while waiting for the Baja ferry. Sweet little spot near a village. Other than a bit of garbage the spot was pretty and my husband managed to get some good surfing in! We felt totally safe and the locals were met were friendly and welcoming. No services.

The campsite is beautifully situated with a wonderful view of the beautiful landscape. The sanitary facilities are very clean and the shower is perfect. Very interesting and competent astronomical tours. There is also a nice planet trail for a short hike. Highly recommended.
