Worthwhile stop for $6pp, especially if you’ve been wild camping and need to soak a week’s worth of dirt off. If you arrive right at opening, you’ll have 30 min or so more or less to yourself. We went Monday morning and it was pretty busy, so don’t expect a tranquil oasis. There are like 15 different pools of different temperatures, inside and outside, washrooms, showers, restaurant a nice picnic tables by the river. The little shantytown that’s built around the entrance gave us dodgy vibes, so I would suggest paying for secure parking ($2 for the day we paid). I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to stay the night in the big parking lot, but there’s a much nicer spot just a few minutes up the road.

Great, quiet night. Plenty of space, access to the river, lit up at night. I think we saw a little security booth with a guard 100m away, felt very safe. 5 min drive to the thermals.

Saudi>Jordan
additional information:
- insurance 82 JOD for a small van, 84 if you pay with card
- you need 20 JOD cash for the TIP car paper. Two exchange offices are right at the border. We changed USD into JOD for the official rate online.
- sim cards available but we got better rates in town (smallest data package 40 GB for 13,6 JOD or 120GB for 16,5 JOD)
- signes that drones are forbidden, they didn't find ours (checked the car and our bags for 5 minutes)

This is a standard RV park. Nothing fancy, everything you need for a few nights: clean dish washing stations, hand-washing stations for laundry, washing machines (extra fee) showers, bathrooms. Lots of hippie artist types, young backpackers, & long-stay RV folks. Front desk extremely efficient & polite. Definitely recommend.

Abidjan is a crazy and polluted city, and if you are here to wait for a visa or just passing by, we can not recommend enough this Marianiste mission. They are in a quiet neighbourhood, have secured and guarded car park, with few spots in the shade. You can either camp if you are self-sufficient or take a room. The rooms are simple but clean and with fully working and quiet AC, shower and private toilet. There are many options starting from 10,000 CFA pp pn in a room with a fan and no food, up to 20,000CFA pp pn in an AC room, and 3 large meals included. With the hotel prices in Abidjan this does not seem that expensive and in addition they have fast 5G Wifi and most importantly you will not be disturbed by drunk people or prostitutes, obviously you should have a respectful behaviour, it's a Church at the end. Don't know how much it would cost to stay in the car park, but i guess they will take a donation. If you want to save some money, you can negotiate the price before, by getting in touch with the reception or pop in for a chat. They will welcome you with open arms. ±225 0708055398 or 0789660877

You will see a sign permitting overnight dispersed camping for less than 14 days. The road is rutted and bumpy but nothing i couldn’t handle in my prius. Could only go back 500 yards or so due to snow, but with 4x4 you could get farther back. Many open areas to park and set up tents. Saw four other people camping. Be careful of mud if there have been heavy rains. I would park at the end and walk down the road a bit if you are worried about your car getting stuck. No amenities. two bars verizon. Beautiful view at some spots

This was a beautiful spot but we had to pack it up and leave at 9:30 pm to stay at Walmart in town because there was a guy screaming and banging on his camper for hours and just didn’t feel safe.
All of that aside there was strong Verizon service and mountain views from every direction. I would just be sure to thoroughly check your surroundings before you settle in for the night.

Had my propane filled here. If you are not capable of walking far then you will need to go somewhere else. You can't pay at the station, you have to walk a good way back to the checkout.

a small street place when you can eat spaghettis and omelette for less than 20k gnf with a coffe. Really basic but good budget option in Khaloum.

un petit restaurant dans la rue où l'on peut manger des spaghettis avec une omelette ou un sandwich pour moins de 20k gnf avec un café. Loin d'être le grand luxe mais ca permet de manger à pas cher dans ce quartier !

Police guys sitting as the side of the road whistled at us to stop. He wanted to check our TIP paper and the drivers passport which he took pictures of and had a quick glance in our van, he returned our TIP and we could continue. Little did we know, that was the start of the terrible road, if they had told us we would have turned back and gone to the other border

Absolute rubbish, the road to get here from Toulepleu is awful, a mud track intented only for motorbikes and maybe confident 4x4 drivers, it took us hours. We came with our 2wd LWB Sprinter and had to have locals dig us out the mud twice & there was a very bad bridge that I had to rearrange the planks of wood and had genuine fear that it was going to collapse when we crossed. Made it to the border and it was quiet, easy enough, they take pictures of everything, all documents, us and the car and they let us exit Ivory coast.

Guiglo to Blolequin road is in poor condition.

I wouldn't recommend this route as the road continues to be nonexistent and muddy into Liberia - see my post on Liberia border

This is the last real fuel station before heading south on the poor dirt road to Tai village. Fill here with reliable petrol or diesel, many places on the way have only poor quality fuel for Motos

We parked just after the bridge and walked to the immigration. Easy process, just slow as they don't have many foreigners passing, they write down every possible piece of information. Another guy came and took away our passports to stamp, then we got sent to another guy who again writes down all the details into a different book then we could continue to customs.

Entering Liberia with our right hand drive car, Richard the chief, who was drinking beer and playing American 80's love songs, tried to make it a problem for us, saying it's illegal to enter Liberia with a right hand drive car and we need to go back. I said we drove from England, that's how it came out of the factory and it's safe. We argued for a bit and then I said I want to talk with his boss, he called him and the boss told him to give us the temporary import paper, he was nice after that. They had no interest in checking our car, we didn't have any CDP or lassier passer. The TIP was free and valid for 30 days.

The road to Toe town in late April is not possible with 2wd, huge pools of water and mounds of mud. We did try on our own but decided to turn back and ask in a local village for help. Turns out they have two heavy duty diggers as they run the local logging business. We came to an agreement for them to drag us through the mud with a digger all the way to Toe town. It was late so we slept in their village and continued in the morning. We paid a lot, but it was the only option to pass the road, initially they asked for 150 dollar & we settled on 100 euros. Expensive but that's what we have our emergency money for

As of April 2024 the information in the previous entry is correct and pretty much up to date. The front door guard is still annoying but the staff inside are extra helpful and you still have to go to get your vehicle and papers I directed across town.

Crossing from Zimbabwe to Zambia

Zimbabwe side was really easy, just stamp in the passport and on the Carnet.

On the Zambia there were many fixers storming the car, but you don’t need one.
At immigration you just get an entry stamp and at customs you have to fill out some document for the road tax. The fixers insist that you buy the expensive insurance there, but the customs officer sided with us and said we can get it in town and just write „to be purchased in town“ in the insurance reference field. He knew what to do with the Carnet.
To pay for the Road and Carbon Tax you don’t have to go to the counter next to the customs, but leave the building and go to the left of the restrooms. There go in the right corridor to go to the pay desk there. Currently it’s not possible to pay by card, so we had to pay 20$ and 314 Kwacha in cash. There’s an exchange beareau, but it’s on the departure side.
