Tajikistan border hold everyone for 4 hours due to power outage. And the send be back and forth between the vehicle immigration and walk in immigration because both of them didnt want to stamp my passport. When I reached the Afghani side it was going to close the office as they closed around 4pm. Then they sent me to a nearby restaurant to spend the night which had good plov. Cost about 500
The next day I went and successfully got my afghan visa and road permit.
Consulate open at 9. Got there at 9:05 amd was behind 1 couple from Tajikistan
1. Visa cost 80usd (Singapore passport)
2. Road permit cost 30usd (motorbike)From start to finish it took 5 hours.
Visa
1. Need two passport photos
2. Crisp new money for money exchange
3. After they gave a recipt for the payment of visa and road permit, had to take a taxi to the bank to make payment and head back to the border. And the bank for some reason only accept afghanis money although the recipt in USD
Road permit
1. Original registration
2. Used Carnet for some other information that they could not find on my original registration.
3. 1 passport photo
4. 4 hours of questions and filling in some paperwork
5. Verbally told them my route
6. Asked to have both Tajik and Iran exit borders listed and that was ok
So Visa and driving permit finished around 1.30pm and had to wait until 2pm for the border to open again to stamp my passport
After all the ruckus and bag check. I left the border at 3pm
Overall it was pretty slow

Same as others. Parked far away from entrances. Didn't ask, since there was another big rig there.

After the post of the guards, they can sleep (tent and vans). The entrance is to S/20 per person for foreigners, S/15 for the Peruvian. For the tent the ground is hard and there is a lot of wind. There's plenty of room. It's pretty flat. If you arrive in the evening, you can sleep for the night without paying, but you will have to pay the next day if you go down to the salines. There's another control down there. The guards are friendly. NB, We are traveling by bike

Al principio no quisieron vendernos diesel por la placa estrangera, ni pagando precio estrangero. Piden DNK boliviano. Tras insistir nos llenaron un bidón de 20L a precio local, pero tuvimos que dejar la camper apartada fuera de las cámaras

We spent one night here without any issue, there were a few people around in the evening (cycling, walking or training) and then we were left alone. The trains are indeed very loud and earplugs are an absolute necessity (but even with those, you might still be bothered if you're sensitive to noise, like my partner :(.) Toilets were closed.

We slept one night here! The Owner called us when we were passing by and offered parking. He is also a very friendly and helpful traveler! There's an IOverlander sign on the tree in front. There is no charge, it is just in good taste to consume something in the restaurant. If you need to use water or energy, it’s $10,000.

UZB - TAJ

Very easy border crossing on both sides. At the Uzbek side we had to open the car, but they didn’t do an in-depth search. They wanted to stand on the car, but did have to open the boxes on there. Had some discussion with the passport control about my registrations, but after showing 4 different papers and photos from Buchara it was fine. I think they wanted to check if I was visiting the country as a tourist.

Tajik side it was not clear what to do, but one of the guard helped us. The first gate is for passport control and taking photos (no fingerprints). After the this check we could go to the second one and do the paperwork for the car. You have to enter the building, find all the truck drivers and wait in line. When it is your turn, give all your documents and they registratie your car.

Then go out of the border by walking to the bank. Behind the guard go right and go to the first building on the right. Go to the last door left, where you have to pay for your road taxes. When paid go back to the office and show you bill. You get your document and can continue your journey into Tajikistan!

There are simcard stores at the border, but you have to pay with cash. We didn’t find any insurance company, but it is not required. If you want one, go to Dushanbe. There is a place mentioned in the city center. (It is possible to exchange Uzbek som to Tajik som at the border. Although check the rate before you change, because they wanted to rip us off by giving half the rate.

We got a imported car document for 2 months, so we don’t have to extend it. Cost was 25 dollars or 280 som.

Hope this helps you out! Safe travels!!!

Nice and cheap camping in town. We expected worse when we read some comments before but it is actually one of the nicer campings we had in Argentina. There is a lot of shade from trees, bbq and washing places. Bathrooms were quite clean, only issue is that they get a bit flooded from the shower. Womens bathroom has two showers and two toilets. We paid 6000 for two people and a small camper.
