Directions of all previous posts are wrong. There is no RV parking. Grass is 3ft tall for tent camping. The exit with the Pilot gas station is the way to get there.

Great safe spot especially for a solo woman traveler for the night. I got in just before the sunset and there was a truck camper and fifth wheel here. Tons of space for many rigs and a great clean bathroom stocked with toilet paper and sanitizer

Now in offseason we were the only guests in the whole (pretty large) resort .. They have an infinity pool, other pools, several waterslides, a restaurant.. The showers were cold and pretty disgusting tough (idk if they just gave us the employee showers, because they didnt want to open the normal bathrooms) - i wouldnt mind but with 5degrees outside temperature a hot shower would have been nice :/

I did it with a 30 ft RV and I would not recommend you to do the same but it is feasible by the south road.

They don’t appear to be open for fuel anymore. There was a pump with petrol here- (1.5894465, 37.8025278)

Not sure what anyone else is talking about for vehicle height limits. There is a second entrance and another, larger yard to stay in if you don't fit under the main gate. I drove the road in all the way to the park and turned around in their parking lot, and there was no obstruction to speak of. If your vehicle is *longer* (length, not height) than, say 8.5 meters, you may run into some difficulties getting situated in the yard, but that's about it.

The downside is that the yard is on a slope. Also, there are large, biting ants here and there around the property. No big deal, but keep a clean camp.
The neighbor on this side has a really friendly burro who comes to the fence line for head scratches (and is probably also hoping for snacks).

I'm not sure why anyone would stay here unless the free campground on the other side of the bridge is full or closed.

Don't believe this. All of the pet importation services for both Honduras and El Salvador are located in the aduana building near the other bridge, where you go to get/cancel your El Salvador TIP.

There is also an office on the Honduras side of that same bridge, but it was closed when I went through. Not sure if it was a temporary or permanent closure, but judging from the instructions I got from border staff, it felt long term.

Showers are closed right now. They probably open for first au June.

No no overnight parking sign down the hill. There’s a piknic table, amazing view. No place for big rigs, more for vans.

What a hidden gem of a spot! Very easily accessible, especially when other forest roads are closed. Absolutely tranquil and quiet. Turn off the main road onto a little dirt pathway and it’ll be around the corner. It’s smaller than large but perfect for camping for the night! Loved it!

Here you can buy a sim card with your passport as a foreigner. After not being able to buy a sim card in the Claro Stores in San Ignacio, I came here and was able to buy one. The man took a copy of my passport, but no fingerprints required. Took about 10 minutes. Paid 20 soles total, 10 soles for the chip, plus 10 soles for data (3GB for 10 days).

This is an okay camping to stay while in Santiago. With a little bit of effort this could be a great place. There is dog poop and trash all around. Bathrooms would need to be cleaned more often. Shower is usually hot. You can use the washing machine for free, but note that it uses only cold water. In my opinion the quality of wash was not very good. Wifi works only next to the house. Uber to the center of Santiago takes 30-90 minutes depending on the traffic and costs about 14-18 euros one way. Camping price in May 2024 was 10 000 pesos per person per night.

yes, the train runs twice a night and sounds its horn. I am a light sleeper, but my husband doesn't hear the train.
there are no marked parking spaces here. the approach is downhill, but it is a good route.

es gibt hier keine abgesteckten Stellplätze. der Anfahrtweg ist Berg ab, aber eine gute Strecke.

This place was sooo nice! Roberto was such a lovely host - just about the joyous most kind helpful person we’ve met in en El Salvador. We loved how clean and spacious it was. The bathrooms were clean. No showers but it seems he’s working on it. He also had a generator which he offered for us to use to plug. It’s right next to casa Cristal which honestly was sooo packed, loud, and a bit dirty over the weekend so we were glad we stayed here because it was quiet and felt more private. However we did walk to casa Cristal everyday because of the restaurant. It was only a 5 mins walk. The food was sooo good and the waiters were so nice. We had lunch there everyday and breakfast once - Really good! 10/10. Roberto also helped us find a guide to hike volcán santa Ana (mandatory to have!) and the guide was the best! We did the sunrise hike and it was incredible. Worth it to wake up at 3:30 am if you can plus it gets hotter during the day. If you arrive late (like we did) you call Roberto he will give you the passcode to the lock. His number is +503 7573 3541. I would text him before you arrive so you can give him time to answer. He usually replies fast but I suggest calling him or texting him two hours before so he knows you are on your way. Have fun!

Adding to my previous comment. We started leaving the camping at 11.50 AM. As we opened the gate we noticed a major roadwork making leaving the campsite impossible for any vehicle. The owner Matias said nothing about this! The road workers say that it will be possible to leave at 3PM but we’ll see. Now we are stuck here and our plans for the day are ruined. I understand the need of road work but it is Matias who should inform his guests about this kind of blockage.

Bring your own toilet's stuff, including paper. But for 3.500.000 rials, it is heaven.

According to the county police officers who woke me up at 4 am, the sign saying: "Setting up a temporary shelter for overnight camping requires a written approval of the county" is like a sign saying: "no overnight parking".
Just be aware of the risk.

Easy laundromat right off the main road. Laundry card is .50¢ to start. I did a weeks worth of laundry and filled the machine that was $7. The dryers are huge and the one I used was .25¢ for 6 minutes. Staff was very helpful answering my two questions.

Huge community center. Lots of shaded parking under structures which was nice to keep my dog cool. Went early so it was still cold outside and with the shade was even better. $3 for a shower in the locker rooms. Private stalls with push water. Overall really good spot to clean up.
