Still a good place to stay for a night on your way south or north! Take the dirtroad away from the highway and search yourself a place! We drove the road for around 800m turned right than and parked our van / set our tent in a little muld.

Dropped the laundry off at noon and could pick it up the same day in the evening.
But it was not super clean and we had to go back to get our laundry bag.

Rio Frio is amazing, and a great place to spend a swelteringly hot day. The cave is super impressive and the area is well shaded with a nice cool breeze. There are put toilets and a picnic area. We were there on a Saturday but there weren't too many people hanging around. Several small groups came and went all day. We made dinner on the picnic tables under the palapa, and the sun went down. We decided to stay for the night. As we were reading and getting ready for bed some men pulled in in a large white truck. They had flashlights and large automatic weapons. They weren't wearing any uniform, but they said they were working for the park and that we weren't allowed to camp there. They said it was dangerous because of "Guatemalan Bandits" in the jungle. After a month in Guatemala, we were skeptical of this, having never ran into any bandits there, but we weren't about to argue with these guys with big guns. So, we drove back to the Augustine Campground (also located on iOverlander). Very cool to check out anyway, just plan on camping back at Augustine if you go. Ya win some, ya lose some.

Great place. We spent one here and other night on the way to. Camping is perfect and so is the sunset.
Clean Shower and WC. Really hot water.
You can hire the tour from Sag Ignacio, where you find the office and where you can get some more info about the tour and area, or just by showing up at the camping.
Easy walk to the village, 2km, best to do at sunset, Nearby there is a oyster farm, 50mxc 12 fresh oysters.
Bring your own wood if you want to make fire

Couldn't don't it and asked the locals. Apparently they "don't function", not sure if temporary or permanent.

Big place. We went a bit further behind in the grass to be further from the road and a bit hidden. Few motocycles passed by, they didn't bother. Very convenient to cross the border next morning.

Delicious italian food.

Nos clavamos unos ravioles de espinaca y ricota para recuperar fuerzas después de nuestra subida al macizo peñas blancas 170 C

El lugar esta en una calle que no circulan autos, frente a un hotel con nombre italiano también.

Opens for customers at 8am By 10.30am the carpark was full and so more boats on the water.
There are NO number and no distance restrictions. The lancha do not chase the whales they go to where the Whales enter the lagoon just north or here and sit and wait. there were 50+. 3 were interacting with our boat
Seasickers be aware it gets rough at the lagoon mouth.
Prices are negotiable you pay the captain as you leave the boat 250mxp/hour in a full boat seems the average

Edgar has a great garage especially for travelers with BMWs. You can join the whole operation. We came here with our two BMW F800GS and we were very warmly welcomed. The mechanics have done their job very well! Edgar and his Team organized all what we need and the price-performance ratio was very good!

had the most wonderful and relaxing stay here. all info is still accurate, paid 5usd per person per night. van was secure inside their gate, access to WiFi, showers, electricity, water, tea, coffee, free drink each night, ping pong, billiard table, beach access, kayaks, tubes, hammocks, great rest spots, stunning views. their food is decently priced, very varied and very tasty with good vegetarian options. staff were very friendly and helpful and guests were sociable but not party crazy which was lovely. thoroughly loved our two nights here and would definitely recommend!

Amazing place!! Almuerzo for 3,99$ with soup and juice. Different options it depends of the day. I had a falafel plate and it was incredible. A couple from Iran run the place, so if you are tired of Ecuadorian food, travel in Iran without plan ticket!
