Description

Take Gillespi road, is a dirt narrow road, go up the hill aprox 3 miles ahead and way up the hill from the beavertail hill campground, the site is a wide pullout on the bend with a great view. Good for a nightover stop if you are tired. The ranger said it's ok to stay here.

Nice little flat pullout with a fire pit. Great view of the valley and river below. It is exposed to the wind and you can hear the highway/ train below but it's not super loud. Overall great spot to camp for the night!

Absolutely beautiful views. Quiet after dark, only a few other cars passing. Bumpy but doable road. I did not have cell service. Dog growled at something we couldn't see or hear. Some weird trash in the little fire circle - please pick up after yourself.

Flat-ish pullout along the road, large enough for a medium size rig (two vans would probably fit). Fire ring and spectacular views of the valley. A few passing vehicles, but nobody bothered us. Spotty cell service with Google Fi.

Perfect spot for an overnight in our truck camper. Good Verizon signal and a beautiful view all around. Pretty quiet. Could hear the train in the distance and a dog down in the valley barking.

best view ever! Bumpy road to get there. We stay for sunset but sadly we left just after because of a bear at few meters of us! No phone services.

Great spot for tent-topper setup, view is unreal. 2 other cars parked here when we arrived. Nice to have company.

Good spot for an overnight. Road was doable in 2WD. Several pull-offs before this specific site that would be better for bigger rigs. Verizon LTE was good, 3/4 bars. No shade. Apple Maps didn’t have the road mapped correctly but follow Gillespie rd for ~3 miles and you’ll get there, I found it in the dark.

Great spot for an overnight. Just a pull out on a dirt road, but beautiful view and only one car went by all night. No amenities. We only got one bar of service on ATT if we stood outside with our phones in the air.

Great view! Quiet. Undisturbed. Small fire ring. Enough for space for a pull behind trailer up to 20’. Mosquitos.

Drove 2.5 miles past the small bridge to get to this location. There is at least one more (without view) another 1.5 miles up the dirt road at a gate. There are smaller spots on the way up to this spot with a particularly large spot for an RV a little over 1.5 miles past the bridge. That spot has plenty of room for RV turn-around.
The road up was bumpy, but it shouldn’t be a problem for a large vehicle and there weren’t any overhead brush issues.
Sunset was beautiful and we could hear a peacock from the ranch below as the sun was setting. It really is a beautiful spot and we found it clean and without litter.
There is plenty of dry wood around to use the rock fire pit as we chose to.

Just checking back in to add photos from the next morning. Beautiful site. Don’t be nervous about going up the road after dark.

Road is washboard for the first 2/3 of the way then decently smooth for a dirt road after that. Here on a new moon (I think) so it’s really dark. The stars are amazing. We are in a rooftop tent so we can still hear I-90 in the valley below. Arrived after dark to an empty spot. It’s so dark it’s a little eerie but I’m sure it will be beautiful in the morning.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view but the drive up was bumpy but manageable by 2W or more. Think it would fit 4 camper vans the most without being too close to each other. 3-4 bars on Verizon LTE

We didn’t bother going all the way to this point because we came upon another large turnout beforehand. The one we stayed in, on the same road, was very dense with trees and grass. Another person came and parked near us after dark.

Worked well for us as a 2wd van and small trailer. A few mosquitos and hot in July but with all the doors closed and screens up on the windows it was fine. That was until a class C parked right behind us at dusk, and turned up the gas generator for a half the night. I thought they would stay for a quick picture and go back down to another turnout just a minute back down the hill. Nope, here all night a few inches from us. Please be courteous and know that people come out here for peace and quite. Not to feel like they are in a bad RV park.

Beautiful view! Pretty much just a turnoff from the road. Great for an RV for a night, but not ideal for tent camping. About a 12 min drive from the highway. Very doable road in a 2wd.

great overnight stopover spot close to I-90. phenomenal sunset views with the sounds of peacocks (yes, peacocks) down below. good fit for our Land Cruiser and 16' Scamp trailer. recommended!

Beautiful spot in the mountains. Beautiful view of the valley. Calm and quiet. The road is good, you don't need a 4x4 to go up. There is many différents spots where you can park during the road.
We spend 1 night with our van with no problems. I recommand this place!
