United States
This is a small parking area at the trailhead with a picnic table and some fire rings. It is free and first come first served. There is noise from the lightly-trafficked gravel road as well as a little bit of noise from the A/C of the radio tower a few yards to the east.
Also, check the website and maps linked below. There are a number of free parking areas / campsites all over the Sugar Hill State Forest, including the Seneca trailhead 0.8 miles east of this site on Tower Hill Road, and the parking area for the main Cayuga trail a couple hundred yards west (already on iOverlander).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Stayed here for two nights, and left our overland trailer during the day to explore the area. There were a few sketchy trailers at the sight on top of the hill and the fire tower area was closed which is apparently only open the 3rd Monday in May to 3rd Monday in October. there's also plenty of other campsites in the park that aren't posted on iOverland, check the park map online for other site locations.
Report Check-InFree camping with outhouse, picnic table, and fire pits. Very dark at night. No one drove down the road after sunset.
Road to fire tower is still closed for the season.
Spent one night in a tent. Minimal trash, 4 bars ATT, quiet & dark, pit toilets, fire pits and a picnic table. I would definitely stay here again.
Report Check-InFantastic place to camp - a few spots tucked away with pretty established fire rings. One other camper and very quite. Might be my new favorite spot to post up
Report Check-InPeaceful little camping spot with 2 fire pits at opposite ends of the site. Right next to the dirt road and decent amount of sun for solar. 2 bars of service for T-Mobile and AT&T. Only about 10 cars pass during the day, people seem friendly. The trail is nice too. The fire tower was closed due to COVID.
