Water spigot at the visitor center, it is potable as confirmed by a ranger inside. Free.
MODERATOR NOTE: Water is still available. The spigot is at the beginning of the walkway that leads to the entrance door — you can’t miss it. Note that the gate is closed at night. Not available 24 hours.
MODERATOR NOTE: May 25, 2020 Still closed due to Covid-19. Gate to parking lot is locked so no access to water or even parking. Permits to Inyo national Forest are opening June 1, so maybe this place will open June 1 too?
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
there is a potable water faucet next to the sidewalk leading to the entrance, right on the edge of the parking lot. it is at the end of the stone wall that parallels the path to the entrance. I checked with the staff and they confirmed this is potable water and rvers were welcome to use it. although they did say their water supply is somewhat limited so they ask that you not take more than 10 gallons. The visitor center is fantastic also recommend taking the time to go inside and check it out.
Report Check-InWater spigot is next to the picnic tables. Google maps link / coordinates are wrong so I’m updating them with this edit. Put “eastern Sierra visitor center” in your gps to make sure it takes you to the right place. If Google maps doesn’t show it right off 395, it’s wrong.
Report Check-InAvailable , free water . The spigot is next the picnic tables , at the entrance of the visitor center

Report Check-InWe did not find any roadside spigots. There is one further back near the picnic tables but you’d need a very long hose to reach it.
