Description

Huge snow park just past the Hoo Doo ski resort. Great free camping in the summer. Snow park permit required in the winter season from Nov to May. This is mostly used for winter recreation and has been nearly empty in August. There are ATV/OHV trails so could be more busy and noisy on the weekend. There is cell service, two vault toilets and a warming shelter. No trash service or other amenities. Up to 14 day camping permitted.

Just checking in to add to what others have said. Free if you're not here during snow season, and there are pit toilets and a communal lodge right here. Totally paved and just off the highway, so literally anyone can get here.

We did have a large group of party campers during the weekend that played loud music until midnight, but Monday and Tuesday have been very quiet with the occasional car.

There is a big ol lake down the road too that's cool. There is a campground surrounding half of it and a bunch of hiking trails.

Great place as described! Beautiful views, nicely located, totally quiet midweek in the summer! Paved lots offer great parking options for all vehicle types, lots of area to explore

Nice enough place to stay if you’re needing strong cell phone service for a bit. Pit toilets are nice to have and there’s a communal lodge area that we made dinner in to get out of the wind and cold. The trails around the mountain are for ATVs and not great hiking unfortunately. Easy to find and plenty of space!

really great place to stay! pit toilets are open and pretty clean, great service (tmobile phones and verizon hotspot), and very scenic and quiet. some people were using four wheelers and dirt bikes but didn't bother us. highly recommend! free in the off season too!

Arrived to discover that this is a HOV Recreation area, the lot beside the vault toilets and snow shelter had several large RVs with off-road vehicles. The area beside the parking lot was totally trashed mud bog from the OHV vehicles. I hoped for a quiet to place to overnight. Walked my and discovered an upper parking area. Moved my RV to the upper parking lot, totally quiet and serene. Excellent Verizon connection! I was the only one parking there. Picked up lots of trash from the HOV users, no trash bins at this site, will drop off at another trash bin. Traveling in a 20 ft camper van. FYI: this is a free site so remember, keep it clean, pack it in, pack it out.
