well what a nice surprise. we camped at the very end spot as advised and woke to a great view of the river. only one other group in a tent further up. peaceful and safe feeling
Report Check-InOpen woods, directly on river bank, one access loop with 8-12 parking spaces, depending if the longer drive-throughs are used as one or two spaces. A few tables and fire pits, not necessarily close to parking, completely luck of the draw. One set of average (not too clean) pit toilets at the boat launch - meaning a bit over quarter mile from the farthest space. Nothing else, not even garbage bins. Location is quite scenic and very clean (ie. no litter). When I visited the only people I saw came in on a boat and trailed it out immediately. At sunset I was the only camp; of it was 40F and drizzling. Beware the road in - dont take 165, but go all the way through Ashburn and turn north on the gravel rd so you proceed along the east side of the RR tracks. Please leave it clean.
Report Check-InIt’s actually the Ted Shanks Conservation Area (same coordinates) Dupont is a bit further north, no camping that we saw.
Lovely campground along the Mighty Miss. All sites fronting the river, shaded by trees. Mix of campers, fishermen and hunters. A few trains at night but not many. Vault toilets. No tables, no fire rings.
Report Check-InGood access road for cars or RVs, about a dozen sites right on the Mississippi. Overflow overnighting in the boat launching lot. Enjoyed watching the river barge traffic. Garmin is not accurate for directions. T Mobile is 3 bars.
