Really beautiful location with amazing views of both Meru and Kilimanjaro. Campsite is lovely with loads of space and wonderful hot showers. Godfrey and Maria are really helpful and can prepare Dinner and Breakfast on demand. $15 camping. $15 for Dinner and $10 for breakfast. Best give them a heads up via whatsapp before coming.

a beautiful huge grass field between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. the very friendly owner gave us a perfect stay: hot shower, very tasty 3-course menu. Unfortunately, it is not possible, coming from the south, to take the short route through Arusha National Park, the 10 km transfer through the park should cost $300, but the much longer detour around the park was absolutely worth it.

Really lovely place. We stayed two nights. Thick green grass, a nice peaceful stream, acacias, and good views on Mount Meru as well Kilimanjaro (as weather permits). It is really spacious and has a calm vibe. The shower was nice and warm (donkey). Two rooms are available if you dont want to camp (30$ pp). Maria and Godfrey are really friendly and welcoming. They made a homemade dinner for us for 8$ each. Camping is 15$pp. We contacted them beforehand through their emailadres below, and they responded quickly. They are still busy improving the campsite. Planning to make a boma area and to get power to the campsite. You do hear the nearby road, but there is not much traffic, so it's pretty calm during day and night. The route described below and the given picture of the map are accurate and helpful in coming here.

Campsite Mountain‘s Hug is run by two very friendly and welcoming hosts (Maria and Godfrey). We loved the atmosphere, the silence - in the night you hear really nothing, the beautiful view on mount Meru and the cosy temperatures at night due to the height of 1580 m above sea level. Even with our big rig (height 3.4 m) the access was easy, because all branches have been cut away.

If you go there you have a neat and clean ablution block (divided by men and women) and very good and clean water from mount Meru. A visit to Arusha National Park is easy. The northern gate is only 6 min drive.

In addition to the campsite, as an option you can book breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. Until the cooking facilities for the campers is finished you can use their own kitchen for free.

To go there you have three possibilities (see picture): 1. via the excellent tar road from Arusha to the north direction Namanga; the last 32 km is very good gravel road. 2. via Kirongo for 37 km taking the very good gravel road. 3. through the national park; in this case you have to pay the park entrance fees.

We loved it and will come back.

We are very sorry for disappointing your expectations. It’s true, this time we didn’t get each other in Whats App. As well, unfortunately both days you have not answered our recalls. Whats App is not the media you should use for a booking in our site. As we live in the bush the connection sometimes is rare and the mobile data is off. Direct calls are always answered in time! Don't count on it unless booked way in advance. We got to the gate and there was a padlock. We honked but no one came. Called the number showed in previous review but no one answered. Whatsapped that same number and got an answer 5 hours later saying that yes the campsite is open. Everytime we asked a question it took at least 2 hours for an answer with no real solution for the problem. So we got back the next day and the same thing happened. We left quite disappointed as it sounds like a nice place and the Meru and Kilimanjaro were really showing off. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be?!

Very nice location for a camsite which is still under construction. Not easy to find the entrance, because there is no signpost. But once i was in, i was very surprised to find a german speeking lady. It is Maria, Godfreys partner and they are very nice and friendly and doing a though job building up a campsite and in future also a place for backpackers. I was lucky to see Kili and Meru nearly without clouds! A beautyful place!

Without this app I would have never found it. You will see a small road with a gate to enter the farm, no sign. There is running water and 2 toilets (squad and western), no shower as yet but a little stream to wash in. Good shade in the more forestry part and thick grass but it is full of thorns everywhere so be careful.
Tried negotiating a good price but he was set on 10USD pppn which is high for what is offered as except for the toilet it is just like wild camping but I decided to stay and support Godfrey with his starting business. He is very friendly and trying hard to get this as a campsite of the ground. A lone buffalo roams the area so be careful at night, nice views of Mt Meru and Mt Kili in the distance if you are lucky! He even has a tennis court in the forest. Beautiful drive coming here with the Maasai and their cattle and small settlements mixed with the views over the very green savanna at the moment!
