Nice road leading to campsite. There are 2 spots at this site but right next to each other (not much privacy) in small the parking lot of a trailhead that we saw nobody use while we were there. Bear box near both sites. Plenty of space for tents. $10 reservation at recreation.gov.

I find that ''http'' exaggerated a bit in its comment. The place is beautiful, far from the road, surrounded by magnificent mountains and wild nature.
Spot 2 is very slightly sloping but perfectly acceptable. The road to access the site is perfectly accessible for two-wheel drive.

The two spots are several meters apart, we had no privacy problem

we had a good sleep over here. we loved the place. it is the end of the road. in the morning there was 1 car parking for a trail to springs, but they told us there is no water in it right now.

Report Check-In

nothing like i expected from the photos on the nps. pretty dissapointing. croton 2 very rutted /washed out and on an extreme angle . only book this site if you want to pitch a tent. croton 1 is reasonably flat - better for a small rv or trailer. zero privacy for 2 parties sharing the site. upon arrival i had to wait for hikers to return to their cars to be able to park as people had carelessly parked IN the campsites.

There are 2 sites right next to each other here, which would be great for larger groups. I was the only one here the night I stayed. You can hike into the Croton wash & springs from the sites. The road in wasn't too bad, but a few ruts in areas. I made it fine in a 2wd Promaster. Beautiful sunset and the only sounds I heard were the coyotes at night!
No water at the sites, but you are allowed up to 5 gallons per day at the Panther Junction VC just up the road.
