All camping along hwy 1 in Big Sur is illegal. The fine is now $1000. patrols are not frequent but eventually some people will have to pay the fine
Report Check-InHighway 1 is closed near Big Sur due to the roads being washed out. It's a big project so take this warning and don't come up here until it's fixed. otherwise, you just lost 2.5 hrs going up and back down to Cambria to take the 101.
