Very cool camp spot right off route 1. Can get a little flooded but any car or truck should be fine.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We drove in around 8:00. At 8:30 local sheriff came by with an angry tone, ran the plates and id. We left the keys early to stay at Cracker Barrel in homestead.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Couldn’t find it at first, cross the greenway and turn left into the trail through the trees. Opens up to a nice pond and no shortage of space. A few cars were there to watch the sunset but no one else stayed over night. Would stay here again.
Report Check-InUpdate don’t stay here. Wanted to stay here one night on our way out of the Keys. An A-hole cop came around 7 am and told us we couldn’t stay here. Took our IDs and explained why about five times hahaha they need to put a sign up so people know for sure.
Report Check-InA great spot! I’m surprised no one else was here the whole two days we spent here. Like others have said let’s keep it clean so everyone can enjoy it!
Report Check-Ingreat spot! stayed one night on our way down to key West. will probably stay there again on the way back up. Road noise throughout the night. it was a little wet and muddy but maneuverable. it did limit the areas you could drive and park tho. forecast shows rain the next couple of days so it will probably get worse. Otherwise, this is a nice little spot with room for several campers. There were two other vans there when we stayed. This is a rare gem in the keys. Lets keep it clean and be respectful so it doesnt get shut down!
Report Check-InLocal Sheriff informed campers that the area would remain open if kept clean. Maybe the only boondocking area in the Keys. Respect the place. Treat it like solid gold !!!
Report Check-InDecent spot. Quite a bit of road noise, but no problems. Watch out for the sand midges... My bug nets were too course to stop them, so ended up having to choose the windows.
Report Check-Inpretty wet right now. a few of no see ums, and like 2 mosquitoes I put deet on when I got here and they left, I'm a little farther south and closer to the road, but it's a little dyer like 15 x 10 of not standing water so I can get out and walk around without stepping in puddles. Some road noise but no visible lights. There is a gate just past the sub station. Woke up in a shallow lake like 1-2 inches.
Right off of route 1. We stopped here for lunch and it’s beautiful and secluded. Hidden gem for sure.
Report Check-InStayed 1 night... arrived late after dark and left before 7am next morning. There is a fire station at the end of the road and employees seem to go to work early.
Report Check-InVery cool camp spot right off route 1. Can get a lil flooded but any car or truck should be fine.
