Small parking lot across the gulf next to the Buccaneer State Park.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Construction underway; it does NOT look like this site will return to a boondock-friendly space.
Report Check-InSmall parking lot across from gulf, very quite. Local police rolled by every couple of hours but did not pull into the lot or have an issue with our presence. The “beach” area is very small here but leashed pets are allowed.
Report Check-InSpent a very quiet night here with no disturbances. However, as soon as I rolled the windows down and started moving around in the van a very nice man from the State Park next door came up and said “I saw you parked here last night. It’s technically owned by the Park and I don’t really know why people keep trying to park here at night.” I told him he should look into putting up signs, but the way Mississippi funds their parks I don’t see that happening. He was very kind and waited until I woke up so you could probably swing it too.
Report Check-InGreat spot. All as advertised but being here in the winter probably made it even easier. The campsite next to the parking lot only had two RVs in it and I think pretty much most of the campground beyond that was sparse. Beautiful view of the Gulf and rather quiet at night after the cars stop passing by. Didn’t have any trouble with anyone taking issue with me being there and there was only one other vehicle there staying overnight in an SUV. The better part is that in the morning I walked past the water park and into the campsites and had a nice mostly warm-ish shower and used the restrooms as well so that was a nice bonus. If you want to actually pull your vehicle in and park in the state park it’s four dollars. But walking in is just as easy. 10 mins or so.
Report Check-InGreat little parking spot. As described..right across the street from the gulf. There’s about 20 places to park but we were the only ones. There’s a small island across the street that perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset. Buccaneer state park borders the parking lot, it’s nice for throwing trash away and going to the bathroom. It’s a little buggy at night so be prepared. Full cell service, I’d stay here again.
Report Check-InThanks for marking that place. Nice and quiet at night. No facilities. We moved on after we woke up to memorial picnic area along the beach to have breakfast and use the toilet.
Report Check-Insmall parking lot across the gulf and east to the entrance of the Buccaneer State Park. There are restrooms you can walk to through the campground behind the parking lot. There is also a 1.8 mile, self-guided nature trail across from the restrooms.
