Something not right?

Description

Just before the Indian Springs campground (coming from I-80) there’s a asphalt road to the left. It turns to dirt almost right away, in fact there’s a rock ledge that requires a high clearance vehicle (I did not put it in four-wheel drive). Immediately to the right is a rocky spot that may be suitable for a small truck but the prize is at the end of the trail only yards away. There’s a flat spot and a large fire ring. It’s a great setting in the forest ... but the Achilles heel is that it’s 90 yards from I-80 so there is significant traffic noise. Verizon: 3 bars, AT&T: 5 bars.

Latest Check-Ins

Road to get here is closed due to snow as of 13 April 2023. the snow blocking the road was taller than my van, so it may be a while before this opens again. I tried a few other roads along here and none were opened so I ended up at the Donner Pass rest area

wow this spot is much better looking than I would have expected considering it's right off the highway. but that's the problem.. the highway is very loud.
It does have a river and swimming hole nearby and full bars Verizon LTE.
high clearance recommended for this spot but there's a few spots around this area I think any one could get to

The rock is big but one of us got out and facilitated. Our Promaster van cleared it, no problem. It was a beautiful spot. Highway noise and we heard a train go by once around 8p. Couldn’t hear the highway from inside the van. Beautiful creek beside the spot.

Attempted to get to this spot. I am driving a Honda CR-V and I didn’t want to scrape bottom on my car trying to get over the large rock sticking up in the road. You’ll need a higher clearance vehicle to make it here. Also, very close to the highway.

This place was great!! I may not have been at exact spot as person posted but there are several! Mine had fire ring. If you make a 200 meter hike following the creek right there, you will run into prime swimming area as well!!
