Description

Awesome spot with self-catering tented camps. You have to cross the river (by foot) to get to the camp. Not a hassle. Warm showers, kitchen and clean bathrooms. The hike to waterfall bluff and cathedral rock is amazing - only about 6kms.
Couldn't get our big rig all the way down to the river, but she was fine and safe where she was.
The hosts are friendly and this camp mostly caters for hiking groups. Take your own food and bedding unless otherwise arranged with pondo camps. The road stretches through green horizons all around you until you get to the ocean, Something to experience for sure

Latest Check-Ins

We drove to this spot with our Big Rig, the last 100m or so was quite a bit rocky and the drive from the main road is an awesome experience. Green horizons all around you until you hit blue waters. Huge waves hammer the coastline and it really is a sight to see. To get to the tented camp, you need to cross a low river, we crossed at both low and high tide without any hassles (by foot). This is the closest accommodation to waterfall bluff and cathedral rock, two amazing geological features. Cattle roam the coastline and I would definitely recommend doing the walk to Cathedral. The camp is clean, and either serves groups of hikers with optional meals etc, but also self catering, just bring your own food and bedding. Everything else is sorted. Warm showers and clean toilets.
Awesome spot.

Correction: River crossing is possible at high tide too. Just a problem after heavy rain falls as the river is too deep. Campsite is not accessible by car as it is on the other side of the river and there is no bridge. But you can park there and sleep in your camper and the locals don’t mind. Very enjoyable scenic 1 hour hike to the Waterfall Bluff.

Nice spot that's very secluded within a coastal forest. Ask for Ivy if you want to stay here and a 4x4 is definitely required. We paid 150 for the night.

Report Check-In

Very quite and lots of spaces with seaview.
Some local people talked to us, really friendly. 4WD with high clearance required. Toilet with seaview. Rivercrossing to the waterfall Bluff only at low tide
