Latest Check-Ins

I pulled off of 19 on my way up to new River gorge just to check this place out and I decided to stay because it’s a nice quiet little spot. I had to drive back up the road a bit to get service on ATT as there is none at the campsite - I paid $4 for a day access pass which allowed me to camp here for free. GoVAOutdoors is the name of the app you can download and purchase the permit through - search WMA Camping authorization and it will prompt you from there.
Now for my experience- the first 4 hours I was here were amazing, very quiet and lovely weather. I made friends with an old dude named bob and we just hung out for a little while and then I went to swing in my hammock. ENTER WHITE TRASH: The other 3 campers that showed up have zero idea what campsite etiquette is. Hammered drunk, blasting loud music from 4pm to 12am, i politely asked them to turn it down around 10pm and they started screaming at me and turned it up louder and they continued to cuss me out in between songs for the next two hours. The last campers got in at 12am and they fired up a shitty old generator to blow up their air mattresses which took them about 40 minutes. All in all beautiful spot that was ruined by Appalachian a-holes.

Didn't end up staying, a permit is required to camp here. You can get one on the Virginia DWR website. The permit for camping is free if you have certain other DWR licenses (such as a Virginia fishing license)
