This place is NOT closed! Also it IS a official (basic) Campground. This is NOT a wild camp spot. The first entry is closed with a fence (also to steep for a car), the second entry, a couple of meters further west, even has a sign for camping and a phone no.

Report Check-In

OPEN! Very basic but nice place directly on the lake side.

Report Check-In

It is (now?) closed with a fence and locked. But maybe only open in high season?!

really nice place, i liked it a lot! beautiful swimming, enough space for a few tents

late in the evening a man came and charged 5.000 pesos, he was friendly and offered electricity and a toilet.... he told me where his house is, sounded credible, was okay to pay for me

Report Check-In

Now it’s closed, impossible to access with a car or a van. Maybe with a tent.

Amazing place but for now it's not grass anymore. Near the lake, nice to swim and enjoy the place. A women came at 10am to ask 8000/car because it was her land. We didnt pay (thanks ioverlanders) and she left.

Amazing spot next to the lake. It is a public beach/area so you are allowed to camp here. There was a woman who try to get money from us, but another visiter tell us not to pay. Really quiet, after sunset we were the only one. Made a fire at the firepit from wood of the cutten trie. Beautiful view on te volcan, lake and mountains.

Perfect spor near to the lake, with tables, very quiet, beautiful view and sunset. Our best spot so far !

Report Check-In

As described… picnic tables, outhouse, etc. Only stayed for the afternoon to relax by the lake.

We went round and round checking out the wild camp spots near Huilo Huilo and finally after looking at 5 places, chanced upon this picnic zone on the way back from the other spot that is now taken up by a big new house.

Locals do come here on weekends, but all leave by sunset. There is even a toilet shed and a couple of picnic tables. We’ve seen some shitty sedans enter, so all 2wds should be able to make it up and down the steep and somewhat loose gravel slope. There is ample parking for 2 medium or one big rigs and can be 100% invisible from the road if you park further in towards the toilet shack. View is very pretty and there are quite some flies at dawn and dusk but not that bad. There is a no trash sign and an old fire ring under the trees.

Keep this place clean as it’s one of the last good campsites in this entire area!! Also, it is better to back in as the entrance is narrow. Ground is level, and while there are minor road sounds at night, there isn’t much traffic as the road is a secondary gravel one. Full reception on Entel and WOM. Enjoy!!

Update: Some mapuche guy came by just as we were leaving and i think(?) it may be part of his land and he has no issues with campers (we asked) but we gave him a 2000 peso tip for letting us stay
