Report Check-In

Well, we did sleep, just overnight stop for us on our way north. It is beautiful. We sadly searched out this jewel after dark on a Sunday. The dot for this is at the opposite end of the landing zone, so the camping is south end as described. Call ahead, we didn’t and wish we did. The streets are skinny. We did see a Koa on rt 11 just north of here. Super beautiful. The parasailing and hang gliding sounds like so much fun.

Located in Wildwood, Georgia. This is a hang gliding/paragliding Flightpark. There is an established campground on the SOUTH END of the landing zone (LZ). Primarily a small community for hang gliding and paragliding pilots, however the campground is available to the public and it’s $5.00 per night. Across from the campground, near the swimming pool is a bathhouse with showers, toilets and washers and dryer‘s available.

There is also a creek next to the camping area. And because this is an active Flightpark and flight instructon achool it does get a little noisy after 9 AM because of the aerotow program. However planes do not start their engines until approximately 8:45 AM. Hang gliders & paragliders LITERALLY land in the LZ in front of the camp ground.

I actually live here and fly here when I’m not on the road. More information can be found at www.hangglide.com. However if you ask around, any one of the pilots will be able to point you in the right direction.

PLEASE Be respectful of the campground and the flight park. Many of us pilots live here year-round and although during the winter there are only about 25 full-time residents and in the summer about 50 full-time residents there are a lot of tourists who make their way through to learn how to fly.

These are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet! Not to mention you might actually get the urge to do a tandem flight yourself!
