Description

I guess we're the first to park/visit this site. The city has recently opened this fantastic facility at the south end of the 4.1 mile long Malecón. There are numerous options for overnight parking here, with many parking lots.

The aquatic center is a really nice pool with restrooms and showers, and it's FREE! The pool has fun things for kids, too. We are not sure what hours the pool is open. Police patrol all night, and stay in the pool area. They said it was no problem to park here. As it's on the main road/highway thru town it has a bit of noise before folks go to sleep. The city of Campeche is very clean and the people are friendly, with many stopping to say hello and check out our truck.

The restaurant La Palapa del Río Fito is just north of the pool and has excellent food at a reasonable price. Meals include numerous appetizers at no cost.

There is an Oxxo and BP fuel station across the street.

This is a very good place to stay. Just pay attention at 2 things: first there is no shadow and it’s very hot these months, second the aquatic park is open only on weekends.

Unfortunately we asked the police and security guys for permission to park for a night, they said no. So we didn't stay there. Waterpark(a yellow building where the showers & toilets are) was gated, seems like you have to pay to get in. There was another bathroom near the port, but they were locked.
