Parking lot on top of hill. Caretaker/Ranger approached us and told us to stay here if we like. He said you can stay up to 14 days. Staying in the parking lot below, next to the restrooms is not allowed. Absolutely beautiful view. Gorgeous hikes. Pit toilets are available below parking lot.

no overnight parking or camping according to signage.

Good spot with views but difficult to get to. Don't take Bay drive or you will have issues as road was blocked at later point and taking offroad near canal was very rough driving in sandy soil. Once arrived you realize the space is only large enough for 3-4 travel trailers or campers. One trailer was here already with kids so not exactly quiet until at night. Worth the adventure though.

As described but just wanted to add a few things. The parking lot is gravel and has a few level areas. It’s only about 75feet wide but. We had two class C’s and two vans and space left over. It is just up the hill from the palms and the pit toilets, you run into it at the dead end road where the ranger stays. Nice, clean and quiet with a view overlooking the Salton Sea. We will be back.

Name is Dos Palmas. Is a BLM preservation. Free access to Trail to Oasis and day use allowed at trail head.
The Top of the hill camping area is occupied by a permanent resident 😉. No privacy.

Nice secluded spot. Very sunny, no shade. I have 4 bars 4g LTE tmobile service.. but when you move around it fluctuates. You can see the Salton seat and the Palms Oasis.

Great spot- just as described. We had it to ourselves all afternoon and evening. A few cars went by in the late afternoon but they didn’t stop. We jumped on our bikes and rode to and around the nearby oasis- an easy ride except for a few sandy spots where we had to push through. Got a bit windy in the middle of the night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view of the Salton Sea and very secluded! I was the only one parked here.

It was extremely windy last night which made it difficult to sleep. Not sure if it is always this windy, but something to keep in mind.

Happy camping!

Secluded! There was no one here. It’s an 11 minute drive from the Salton Sea Rec Area. Dirt road but okay for driving. I have a 2wd sprinter. I did see a couple pullouts but they looked sandy so I kept going to this location which is a large flat dirt lot. Amazing sunset. Quiet but you can still hear the train a bit. Didn’t see the pit toilets mentioned. We must have come in different ways? Either way I LOVED the view!!!
