Free camping at this BLM OHV trailhead. Three sites with picnic tables, fire rings, and BBQ grills. One pit toilet (very clean!), trash cans, and an off-loading ramp for OHVs. There are another six sites at the Fort Sage TH but this one was closer to the hwy and has great views. Far enough from the road so no highway noise but we
could occasionally hear a train in the distance. Very quiet and peaceful at night. OHV trails go all around here so it would probably be noisier when it's busier/weekend. 14 day camping limit and need a permit from BLM for a campfire. 4 bars LTE on Tmobile.
To get here: From U. S. Highway 395 turn East on Laver Crossing road (0 .8 miles north of Doyle) and travel 1.4 miles to Hackstaff Road. Turn south (right) and travel approximately 1.2 mile to Fort Sage Road. Turn east (left) travel 1.1 mile to the entrance of the Fort Sage OHV Area. Turn east (right) and travel about 1 mile to the Diamondback trailhead, the Fort Sage trailhead is .05 miles up the road.

Really nice (free) camping spots on BLM land! We took the smaller third site among the granite boulders. There are bear proof trash bins by the pit toilet. Two bars on AT&T.
Report Check-InOne of the best campgrounds we've had in over 12000 miles. And it was FREE. Beautiful location. Quiet. Clean. Large, flat sites with gorgous firepits, picnic tables, grills, and clean bathrooms. Even a few cows to welcome us. We stayed one night.
Report Check-InNice place for a night maybe two. The fire brigade came by early this am. Didn’t say anything and the blm personnel also came I had the dogs out without their leashes so they run. The lady stopped to talk to my dogs. Said they well behaved lol.
Report Check-InJust wanted to add 2-3 bars Verizon LTE, 50mbps download 4mbps upload, very useable for videos etc. Great clean place!
Report Check-InThis place is beautiful. We watched a gorgeous sunset from our site. The directions given were accurate and the site is clean and well maintained. We also drove 4 miles in to the town of Doyle and had a couple of beers at the Buck Inn Bar with the owner Steve what a wonderful group of people
Report Check-InBeautiful place 3 miles off highway 395. Very quiet, clean, toilet, trash bin and for free!
Nice view and amazing sunset.
Great spot, super clean, tables, fire pits, pit toilet and nice views.
Report Check-Inbeautiful place to stay, even for more than one night. super clean restrooms and nice firepits.
Report Check-InShocked that I was the only one here on Labor Day weekend. Incredible spot high up with a beautiful view. There are cars and RVs camped in different pull out to the distance, but there’s tons of space at the trailheaded itself.
Report Check-InVery nice! About 4 miles off of Hwy 395. Road in is good mix of pavement and gravel. I would imagine it gets busy on weekends but here on a Thursday and have it mostly to ourselves. Massive bbq’s and fire pits.
Report Check-Inbeautiful views, quiet (have only heard one OHV this morning); clean pit toilet and nice flat surface for parking!
Report Check-Inbeautiful views, pristine pit toilet, very quiet on a Monday night in November!
Report Check-InDidn’t spend the night here because I got stuck at the other spot closer to the highway. But this is the cleanest bathroom I’ve ever seen. Also trash cans and picnic tables. All the spots were taken by pull behinds when I got here on a Sunday morning but there is more sites up the road with vault toilets.
