Great spot right by the water near the dam.
Pros: secluded, nobody was here except us for miles. pretty cool spot!
Cons: a lot of trash! smelly next to the water. Gnats at night.
Overall we stayed for 1 night and liked it!
Had no problem getting our 24 ft rv in here!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Stayed in a Promaster camper van, easy access. Site was relatively clean, however there was some broken glass. We picked up and packed out what we could. Verizon signal was ok at 2-3 bars. We were the only ones that stayed there the 2 nights we were there. Only a couple fishermen came to fish so it was really quite.
Report Check-Instayed here a few nights, no one disturbed us but some people came by to fish. the road was good until the very end and it was windy.
Report Check-InGreat quiet dark spot with few visitors… road in was incredibly good, at the end sites off main road - need a bit of clearance 2WD in dry
Report Check-InI read the previous post from 3 weeks ago stating that there was a lot of trash here. There is NO trash at all and I am the litter police on sites. Maybe I am in a different place but even on the drive in, I saw none. It is a beautiful spot, pretty cool, really. I like unique sites for vanlife stops! Shielded by the wind but the dam will prevent a sunset and we will be in shade earlier than sunset. The water is clean, odorless, sounds beautiful and sparkling in the sun.
Very dark and quiet all night. Just the sound of water.
I came in from the south via the entrance to the state park (turn off about 1mi perfore state park). The road was just redone and it’s in GREAT condition. I was driving 40 in a Chevy express. Wasn’t too much garbage, but I picked up what I could see. Enjoy
Report Check-InGoogle maps will try to lead you around the entire lake and tell you to walk across the water. Don't listen to it! When on Capitan Reef Road, take the first left after you cross the bridge over the creek, onto a dirt road. road is in excellent shape until the last 1/4 mile, then high clearance necessary, and 4x4 if it's wet (my rwd Astro made it, when it was dry). don't think I'm going to stay the night, but the spot is here and seems fine.
