Saw this old church when looking for gasoline near the border. There’s no human houses here, just animal houses (llama). When i was here, there are a lots of Venezuelan illegal immigrants trying to enter Chile (covid19 time), so carabenero (police) cabin was parked 500m from the church. Therefore it’s safe to sleep at church frontyard after asking permission from the police. Windy in the afternoon but stop before sunset . Very quiet at night. Beautiful view of the mountains and can see both chile and Bolivia border town from here.

Seems like a nice place BUT if you want to have a good night sleep we really DON'T RECOMMEND staying here! We were woken up by the Carabineros at midnight, they said it's a dangerous place and we have to come to sleep in the police station parking lot! And they knocked again on our door at 7 AM to leave...
Good place for a break anyway, nice view on the mountains, lots of lamas around, cute little church.
