One of a few hikes up to the crater rim. We camped at La Casa de Juan and it took us 1.5h to reach the top. Once you have entered the parque (3$ for non-residents), the trail passes the Piedra Pintada and some nice natural ponds. On top, one has a good view down at El Valle and the crater the village sits in.
Because we don't like going back the same way, we continued towards the Cross and then followed a steep trail down to the village (1h). See maps.me for the details.

It’s an nice hike and not too complicate (3km loop) but still a little bit steep. The view from the top is beautiful !
$3pp to enter the park. The hike from the entrance to the top took us 45min. Awesome views of the valley. Windy at the top.
Report Check-InWe wanted to hike this trail for the sunset. The police stopped us, the offical trail is only open from 8 am - 4 pm. We wondering if it's dangerous. Our host tells us it's like russian roulette if you go in darkness. Sometimes they had robbed single persons or couples. During the daylight or more then 5 persons in the darkness should be no problem.
