Description

There is a new campground being built here that may have more amenities but it is currently a great camp spot with good fishing along the west side of the lake.

Latest Check-Ins

Pulled in around 10 PM to the RV park. When you’re driving towards the lake, it’s on your right, I missed it on accident and took a scenic drive around the lake. There were scattered cars around the lake either camping or just hanging out and when I made it to the RV park, there were about 10 RVs/campers when I woke up. The RV Park is clean, quiet, has power, hook ups, and a well water pump if needed. There are scattered picnic tables and fire pits if you’re looking to make more of a trip out of this place than an overnight stop. I believe there are bathrooms too but I did not look for them.

Camping around the lake is free, rv park is $25/night.

We are camped by the water in this free campground. There is a pit privy, picnic table and a fire ring. There was also a lot of trash and monofilament line scattered around, which we bagged and will take with us. Beautiful sunset, very quiet. We even saw some bison from the nearby refuge on our way in. ATT 1 bar, and LTE. It was a little tricky to find an almost level spot.

This is a great free spot and one of the nicer fishing lakes I’ve been to in Kansas. Spots by the water and some back in the trees. I stayed 2 nights in trees for wind block and moved to a shoreline spot too. All good. Tables, firepits, toilet, dumpster. Hiking trail. Easy access for any vehicle. 1-2 bars ATT

Beautiful free camping area just at the border of the wildlife refuge where you can see wild bison. About 10 or more camp sites, most at the water's edge with fire rings, picnic tables and pit toilets. Definitely worth a stay.
