As of July ‘18 there is still no adouana office yet. So you can cross, yes, but no stamps whatsoever!

Don’t let Google Maps fool you into taking this ‘short’ road from
Laguna Lachua to Palenque or vice versa.

The military guys who let us pass told us we could get stamps in Comitan or Palenque, but when we came in Palenque and asked at the migracion (white orange building near Chedroui), they told us it’s not true. We had to drive all the way to the border of El Ceibo to explain the whole story and get our Guate exit stamps and Mex entry stamps...
So just don’t go through this bordercrossing.
Besides, the road is very very bad. The guatemala side is bumpy dirt road, the 307 at the mexican side is bumpy asphalt.

guatemala to mexico:
wouldn't recommend this border crossing, we took it because we were leaving from Cobán and maps sent us this way.
the last hour of driving is on a bumpy dirt road and there is another lengthy stretch of dirt road before that. there were guys on the guatemala side asking for 50q for 'road maintenence' to head toward the border crossing. the actual crossing was a bit odd, one guy looked in the front seat and checked everywhere (inside my wallet, under mats, knocking on door panels) but didn't look inside the camper at all. no stamps or paperwork on either side of the border. the military guy we spoke with wrote down our names and said he would call the people in Comitan and let them know we passed through and we could get stamps for our passports there.
will update when we get to comitan to see if it actually works out.
my suggestion: don't cross here.
