Nice place near Escalante. Plenty of space. Get overnight permit at the interagency visitor center. First right hand turn off the main dirt road.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great location for big rigs. The hole in the rock rd itself is very wide and well compacted. Gabage availble on the road.
Report Check-InFree permits available at the visitor centre. Just off the main road and lots of spots. No issues in 2WD promaster but it had been very dry. My dogs came across a dead dog out here that I had to call into the police so not my favourite spot to think of ☹️
Report Check-InGreat pull off down a gravel road. We didn’t see any signs instructing where to park or camp so we didn’t go in very far. Saw 5 or so other RVs, but spread out plenty. Good cell service Verizon and T-Mobile.
Report Check-InGreat spot in BLM land. Lots of room to have space with others. And stunning views all around.
Cell service very good too !
Great spot. Lots of room. No toilets. Didn’t need to drive to far in to find a spot.
Report Check-InNice dispersed camping style spot. Plenty of spots to pull in and call home on a quiet Thursday night. Beautiful stars and views. Mostly clean - picked up one small trash bag of trash from one of the sites. Did a spring clean of the van in the morning here.
Report Check-InBLM dispersed camping area. Big rig friendly. Can fill water containers at the visitor center in town.
Hole in the Rock road extends 55 miles beyond this point, last 9 (inside Glen Canyon) requires high clearance 4wd. Saw some dispersed down there, but think permit is required.
I'm pulling 19' fiberglass trailer so was happy with mile 1 :-)
Report Check-InGood place! Lots of areas to set up camp. Looked on the website and it said permits are advised but not required.
Report Check-InEasy to get to from town. Just a short drive. Lots of choices to overnight. Looks like it could accommodate quite a few campers.
Report Check-InStaff at visitor Center recommended this. Excellent location. Plenty of spots and clean. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Report Check-InWater in parking lot across from the front entrance to building. The Interagency Visitor Center / office was closed all day the day we were there ( despite the posted days/ times saying it was open). Finally caught a ranger getting into his truck. Said it was fine with out permit for 1 night only. Large area, nice views.
Report Check-InJust off the main road on the edge of Escalante. Plenty of space for tons of rigs. Lots of privacy, flat, pull through areas, some trees, fire pits, etc. 3 bars of Verizon. Quiet at night. Great location to unhitch and explore.
Report Check-Indirt road, were there with RV 27ft long. Lots of places around, great views
Report Check-InGreat spot, tons of open and flat space for any type of rig. Bushes provide some privacy. Great views. We arrived too late to get a permit, but had no issues. Cheers to whoever posted.
Report Check-InWe were here the last few days. We did not have a permit the first night, but had no problems. Got a permit at the State Park. It was easy, no big deal. Not even sure we needed it, it was so empty and quiet. No one came by. We were about a mile down into this area. Only 2 other rigs were there.
Very spaced out. Pretty easy to get to all the sites. Nice rock fire rings, and garbage cans at the road (2nd entrance into this area).
Lots of hiking down Hole In The Rock Road...it's gravel and very washboard. But the hiking is worth it.
Numerous pull offs. I find one on a high point with a good overlook. Perfect. Good gravel road in but washboard like most. Fires allowed unless posted otherwise. Good Verizon LTE.
Report Check-InThis is a great spot! Right off the highway, a few other cars but lots of space. I get 3 bars of Verizon service.
Report Check-InAs others have said, this is a good place with lots of spots to choose from. Didn’t bother with a permit for just one night. No problems.
Report Check-InQuiet dirt road. Multiple dispersed sites, some with fire pits. Accessible by Harley’s when dry.
Report Check-InEasy spot to stop off between Bryce Canyon and capitol reef national park. We loved visiting grand staircase Escalante while there! A little bit of a rough road but it’s towards the start of the road. We were fine in our 2-wheel drive transit.
Report Check-InAte at Nemo’s with John, had a burger and chips and fish. Crashed into John’s van and broke his tailight. Was really upset about it but had a better afternoon with him at the campsite. Saw a coyote.
Report Check-InWide open desert area with tons of RV and van size pullouts and campfire pits.
Report Check-Innice open yet quiet spot just off 12 and at the beginning of hole in the rock, very good Verizon service
Report Check-Ingreat location for passing through, lots of motorhomes but plenty of room to get away from them.
Report Check-Ingreat place to stay, lot of sites, fire pits, great ATT signal. visitor center (for permits) was closed, ended up staying 5 nights in row right after a snow storm, without issue. even got to test my diy gravity shower before the snowstorm
Report Check-InAmazing spot! Large area with plenty of sites to spread out and have your own space. Really enjoyed staying here a few nights while exploring the trails of Escalante.
Report Check-InTons of medium/large sized spots all along road. We moved to another spot because the spot we first stayed was uncomfortable, so we're in a new spot. Hope tonight goes differently :) 2wd/low clearance okay if road is dry.
Report Check-InWe arrived late so we didn't get a permit and parked very close to the entrance. Saw nobody else. No snow yet on the ground.
Report Check-InTons of open space with designated sites (fire rings/rocks). Beautiful, free. Easy to drive to. Verizon service 2 bars LTE.
Report Check-InThis place is jam packed with RVs and plenty of generators running. We stayed one night and left early.
Report Check-InStayed for a night on my way to Bryce Canyon National Park. Visitor Center in town is awesome and has very helpful staff.
Report Check-InOk for one night. A lot of people, little trees everywhere. We were near the road so in the morning, every car passed near our tent. It should be better to camp a bit further!
Report Check-InNice place near Escalante. Plenty of space. Get overnight permit at the interagency visitor center.
