Description

We found a small boat (10 people capacity) that took us to Nungwi in Zanzibar for 80000 tsh incl bicycle per person.

Ask at the office near the ferry port, the sign says "Karibu Safari cultural centre"

The boat took 1.5 hours and was trustworthy.

price probably negotiable but we didn't try as it seemed fair.

Latest Check-Ins

NO LONGER AVAILABLE - we were told by several locals that the boats going to Zanzibar don’t leave from there anymore but from Ushongo, 15km south along the coast (you can take the short ferry to Bweni).
Not sure if it will start again in the future.

Not a good experience for us, but still we got in Zanzibar!!
We paid 120 000 tsh with 2 bicycles and I'm sure we could pay definitely less... You have to keep going on negociation even if they said no, they will come back to you and accept your price!
A friend could do it for 40000 tsh with bicycle as well.

At 10am, they told us "the boat leaves in 30 min"
We left a 1pm (waiting 2hours in the boat) so annoying!!!

Good luck.

Report Check-In

Was able to take a boat to Zanzibar with my bike at around 1pm (having missed the morning boat that usually leaves around 6am, or so I've heard). I payed 100'000Tsh in order to have a guide fix all the necessary administration to allow myself on a later boat, me thinking that only one boat usually leaves per day. This is probably a unnecessary expense, and from other passengers on the boat it seem like it's possible to pay normal fare (30'000Tsh) for both you and the bicycle (although an extra 10'000 probably wouldn't hurt). The fish market is the landing place, east of the ferry across the river. You'll arrive at Baraka beach in Nungwi 90-180min later, weather depending.
