Description

Thornburg Draw trailhead BLM outside of Maybell CO. I checked 3 BLM maps and all confirm that this spot is legit. Turn at brown sign that says Thornburg Draw TH. Big sky, long views, grassy desert, a little windy. Quiet. A nearby highway has little traffic. We saw pronghorn and prairie dogs. Use caution as this is snake country but we saw none. Probably packrats, too. Maybe the snakes will eat the packrats! Also, killer fire ants off the road. Trust me on this one. I can show you the bites.

Pronghorns on the hill. 92 hot degrees but the breeze and van shade are helping to accept the heat. Stunning, beautiful sunset, almost full moon, and a starry, starry night!

Latest Check-Ins

Thank you to the person who posted this spot. This place is Visible from the road but great views. The road and parking area is great. But light traffic passing by. View of the mountains with snow on the peaks. Several vehicles could park here. Big Rigs probably would have an issue. Tent camping no problem.! Doesn’t look like this place gets many overnighters…pack it in and pack it out.
