Large gravel pit approx. 300 m north from main road and 15 km from San Pedro. Flat places further up. 360 degree view on Salar de Atacama, San Pedro and vulvano Licancabour. Sunset, moonrise, sunrise for pleasure. Quiet at night except for some trucks heading up the Jama pass in the early morning hours. 3 G reception good. Big rigs might have problems at the beginning crossing small dry river bed.

Still an okay spot. Acceptable height. We arrived at dark so couldn’t find the place 300m away, but parked closer to the road. Amazing starry night. Traffic nearby but not much and no stray dogs or other noise. Weak 3G Signal with Movistar.
Report Check-InBest Wild Camping around Atacama! Incredible views of sunset and sunrise, the night sky and city lights. Really amazing! It's a little bit visible from the road, but we still feel safe here. At night, a little noise from the road trucks. Keep this place clean and take care this wonderful spot!

Report Check-InGreat spot and the first one no too high. Access demands some high clearance. Beautiful views of the volcanos around. Except for some few trucks very quiet.
Report Check-InSo many places to camp along this road. Only noise is trucks going up the hill. Nobody around
Report Check-InGreat overnight spot. Did not feel good crossing the dry stream bed to be further away from the road as it was rutted and filled with soft sand, so stayed nearer to the road, but even so the noise level was very tolerable (the spot is in the middle of a *long* descent, so the trucks driving down have to moderate their speed for safety).
As reported, excellent 3G/H+ cell signal (best we found in the area except for San Pedro downtown), for both Entel and WOM carriers.
Report Check-InNice place. Windy but much warmer than the Laguna Route in Bolivia, as it is well below 3.000m. View in the morning was great. Used a big stone as bench for breakfast.
