Large, gravel pull off between road and Yale Lake. Large enough for big rigs or several smaller campers/vans. We (46 ft combined) backed in between the lake and the guardrail with no problem. Road noise was minimal throughout the night but picked up early on Monday morning. Gorgeous views and the lake was perfect for a quick swim.

Not a place to camp. We arrived a little early and made dinner. A sheriff came by to make sure we weren’t planning on staying over night. Instead go up forest road 81 plenty of sites to camp and an easy going road up. Need a discovery pass, if you don’t have one get one already.
Report Check-InNice pull off right next to the lake. There is a spot you can tuck in between the guardrail and some trees that’s a little more private. Easy access to the lake. Road noise died down after 10 pm until about 6:30 am. We used the bathrooms at Cougar Camp. No one was manning the entrance booth so it was free. Verizon spotty.
Report Check-InPs- my cell signal worked. 1 bar ATT LTE at the spot and 2 bars on the beach.
Report Check-InWow… this place is a gem.
I am already so used to road noise that it can almost be considered white noise… so the cars passing (it’s on top of the road) don’t really bother me. If this is something that bothers you… this is NOT the spot for you.
It quiets down for a few hours at night then the morning commute begins at 4am.
Now on to what matters… THE BEACH! Back in to the area between the trees and the road barricade thang thang. You can step down to the private little beach that on weekdays will most probably be completely yours! The actual park is within walking distance and more busy if you prefer human interaction during your time here.
There are fire pits on the beach and views of Mt. St. Helen peak to the left.
Report Check-InNice spot by the side of the road by the Yale reservoir with a great view and a little beach to swim. There is also a park with public restroom that you can walk to but it was not open before we left at 6:30
