Still an informal campsite, unfortunately Willie was out, so we didn‘t meet face to face but only via whatsapp. After 550km we stayed one night on our trip from Tete to Vilankulo.
We camped just behind the house, felt safe and there was a toilet and a shower.
As an overnight stop on the long ride it is really ok, but don‘t expect too much comfort.

Willy is so hospitable! Very good place to overnight on the long stretch between Zim and the coast of Moz.
We slept in a room in his house, which was very convenient since we wanted to leave early, and it was raining. We also used his kitchen to prepare dinner and ate together with Willy and his other guests (missionaries that were there for a month)
We did check out the campsite; it's opening next week (so to the admin; this place could be changed to an official campsite?); there is a toilet and shower now. Nice spot near the river.
There are no signs (yet), just follow the GPS, and you'll find it. If you come from Zim; the entrance road is a bit further than the large (school?) building you pass on the right.

The perfect stop to recharge and enjoy a peaceful night! Willy is absolutely great and welcomes you with open arms! We got to test out the new campsite that will soon open! a lovely spot under trees with grass and an amazing river view! The hippo did visit!

We were able to sleep here and charge our electric car as well on the grid. Very kind family! They even offered a room but we prefered our on tent.

This is not an official campsite yet! Willi wamly welcomed us as his guests. We parked our big rig in front of one the mango farm buildings and had a quiet night. We hope that he will soon be able to start his new camp site on the riverbank with the beautiful view on the river. Willi used to manage a camp site in Tete for many year so he knows the business well. We reached Willies place after 8.5 hours driving time from Inhassoro (BAD BAD N1 "road"; worst part is 70km northern to Save river).

Report Check-In

We did not have a possibility to contact Willie beforehand but as we came late through the border, this was our last option for the night.
We drove into the place around 6 pm and luckily we found a worker who did not speak English but showed us a tree where we could sleep for the night. Did not use ablution block but felt safe during the night.
Willie was not at the property that night.

Informal but...hopes to be an official in few times !
Willie is a kind Host, you can camp behind his house and use his ablutions (2 bathrooms available with flushing toilets and bath or shower). They are very welcome!!!
It's a Mango farm, you can as well have some mangos there. We visited the fields and installations and they explain us how they manage the farm. You have an access to the river on the property, with a little table to enjoy the view (no swimming due to crocodiles and hippos). The friendly dog will go everywhere with you!
We had a quiet night even if it was harvest time (some tractors around 5.30 in the morning, but it wasn't annoying at all).
It took us 5 hours from the farm to join Inhassoro, with 4x4 pick up. Not a lot of traffic but lot of potholes. 3 very good road sections at least.
