Nice spot for rockhounds in the Gemfield. some yucca to hide behind for shade. bugs not too bad. excellent AT&T service, surprisingly.

Nice quiet spot at end of gem field road. Lots of spots to choose from in the area. Cool rocks and very few people in April. Very good overnight.
Report Check-InThis is a place of scenic beauty. We camped surrounded by Joshua Trees with wild horses and burros in the distance. We didn’t go to the gem area or into town but both seem like interesting places. There was a storm at night and it was rainy and super windy but the road was perfectly fine when we left in the morning.
Report Check-Inbeautiful large area. lots of spots to camp along the 3 miles before the gemfield. some with fire pits. burros keep their distance but you can hear them :) large rig friendly
Report Check-InGemfield Rd is gravel, well maintained. there are turnouts off to the side which are great pull through sites. The first two we came upon were taken. we drove back further and came upon a huge open spot with an amazing view. This place is great. Both dogs were off leash but we kept an eye on them. Highly recommend.
Report Check-InThere are a few flat pull offs around the dig sites. Soooo many beautiful stones here!
There is also a decent sized parking lot at the base of the mines area. We saw one other person while we were here.
