Overnight parking in this picnic area just 2 miles after the park entrance. Stayed there because there was not space availability in any of the Park Campgrounds. Large parking lot. It was empty. Has public restrooms

this is not an area where you're allowed to camp, we pulled up and felt it seemed too good to be true, chatted to a ranger and it was - he said to go up 4 miles to the Sequoia National Forest where dispersed camping is allowed (it isn't allowed in Kings Canyon). we found a layby and pulled up in the forest area and all seems fine!
